Baldur’s Gate 3’s Hotfix #24 Out Now, Fixes Short Rest Bug & Improves Performance On Mac

A reminder: The game won't be getting DLC.

Story Highlights

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 is Larian Studios’ latest JRPG venture and a fantastic one at that with globe-trotting acclaim.
  • A new hotfix has been rolled out for the game by the devs, making a few, but meaningful changes.
  • Those who continue experiencing issues should get in touch with Larian’s support team.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been keeping it real with fans of the massive RPG genre, bagging that 2023 Game of the Year award last year and taking home the most number of awards at The Game Awards ceremony. Larian now, being the hyperactive game developer studio it is, keeps the title constantly updated, recently pushing out Hotfix #24 and making a number of improvements in its wake.

Unable to Short Rest? A bug was preventing some players from taking a Short Rest when having added and then dismissed Us with a companion party member, before then loading certain savegames. We’ve had some kind but firm words with this adorable intellect devourer, and power naps are now back on the schedule,” says Larian Studios.

Other than that, those playing on a Mac should be able to experience swifter frame rates, especially now following the mess that the previous hotfix made for this platform in the name of “performance and FPS drops.” Make sure to get your game up to date with the latest available version, and you should notice an improvement. In the meantime, here are the rest of the fixes rolled out:

  • Fixed a crash that could occur after the cinematic that plays when transitioning from Act II to Act III.
  • Fixed an issue preventing you from taking a Short Rest when having added and dismissed Us with a companion party member and then loaded certain savegames.
  • Fixed Us appearing at camp and near other waypoints when that didn’t make sense.
  • Fixed an issue introduced in Hotfix 21 causing reduced performance on Mac.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Will Get Future Updates, But Not New Content

As sad as that is, it’s true. Although a bunch of added stuff is still coming, CEO Swen Vincke explicitly confirmed that Larian is not a “DLC company,” and it rather utilize its resources on a new game. That’s unfortunate news for those who were expecting more from the IP, but personally, I’m more excited to see the Belgian developer take on another project.
