WWE 2K22 New Trailer Leaked Ahead Of Time

Leaked cinematic footage gives more insight about the game.

After the catastrophic release of WWE 2K20 in 2019, 2K Games and Visual Concepts scratched WWE 2K21 to give more time and dedication to their next title. They want to develop the best wrestling game possible, focusing solely on WWE 2K22. Since the reveal last year, the following entry looks promising from what we had seen. Visual Concepts and 2K Games have connected with the community, revealing info here and there.

Leaked Footage: Shows Off Prominent Figures

The development period is about to conclude in March. Understandably, fans expect this 26th installment won’t be your typical wrestling experience. The leaked trailer – which was found by WWE Attires And Shows – gives insight into what’s to be expected visually. It’s speculated that it was supposed to be revealed at the Royal Rumble event. Keep in mind that Take-Two has taken down the trailer, but we will certainly see it again.

The leaked trailer has received primarily positive feedback, although some are not impressed by the character models. It’s plain as day that they are not going for a hyper-realistic approach rather a gamey look. However, the cinematic trailer made the game look immersive, though fans on Reddit claimed it did not look as good as the images. Let’s hope that WWE 2K22 holds up to everyone’s expectations.

WWE 2K22 Redemption To Success

It appears that Visual Concepts are looking for redemption; their last title received one of the worst Metacritic scores in 2K‘s history. For this title, they are strictly buckling down to provide quality. To improve, publisher 2K hired former Double Helix studio head Patrick Gilmore to take over WWE 2K.

“Core gameplay is one of the major investments we’re making in the next installment, one of six pillars we are focused on disproportionately in development,” Gilmore expressed in a Reddit Q&A back in summer 2020.

“We are looking at much-loved previous games like No Mercy or Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain, along with top franchise installments, and more modern wrestling and fighting games to build an all-new philosophical foundation for the game.”

The release date was also established to fall into March’s window. Fans have already witnessed what WWE 2K games can do on PS4 and Xbox One, with effects differing between entries, but inception on new-gen consoles seems natural.

In the end, the game is coming along to be an addictive wrestling experience. It incorporates new and old features alike. WWE 2K22 is redeeming to avoid the disastrous impact the last title had on the wrestling genre of video games.
