New “Metallic Gray” And “Metallic Red” Color Listings Appear For The DualSense

More color options for the DualSense are likely to be on the way.

 Story Highlights

  • The PlayStation 5’s DualSense is available in an array of different colors, including Cosmic Red, Galactic Purple, Grey Camo, Midnight Black, Nova Pink, and another God of War-themed variant.
  • Two new colors for the DualSense that have not been announced or talked about before have seemingly surfaced on the PlayStation Repairs website, namely Metallic Red and Metallic Gray.
  • The listings for the two colors could mean that new DualSense variants are on the way but don’t hold your breath.

Were you feeling short on enough colors for the DualSense? You just might have another thing coming. The official PlayStation Repairs website shows two new color variants for PlayStation 5’s next-gen handheld controller when you attempt to request a repair for it.

The two new colors are Metallic Gray and Metallic Red. None of these options have come out into the open before, nor has Sony ever announced these colors were coming. The listings for the new colors just might have spilled the beans on a surprise new DualSense reveal, apparently, but there’s room to be mistaken here.

If you head over to the Repairs handle of the PlayStation website, you’ll first be met with an option to choose the PlayStation product that’s giving you trouble. Choose DualSense from there, and you’ll be taken to another page on the screen.

The support-centric page will then inquire about your issue. You’ll now need to select an option other than “I have another issue” to get to the part where you’re instructed to request a repair.

As troubleshooting measures will be instructed, just keep iterating that the issue still exists. That way, the website will automatically prompt you to get the controller repaired. Click on the “Request Repair” button to move forward.

As the next page loads, enter your DualSense’s serial number, written on the back of the controller, and you’ll be asked the color in which you’ve bought the accessory. It’ll only be then that the “leak” that has evidently surfaced will appear, giving us a sneak peek of two additional DualSense colors that have not been released yet.

Thanks to u/Loyal_Frost for spotting the find. According to the Redditor, these colors have been on the PlayStation Repairs for quite a while now, so it is possible that additional DualSense variants are nearing their release.

As for the pricing of the metallic colors, fans don’t expect Sony to give out these special controllers for a higher cost than usual, considering how even the specialized God of War Ragnarok DualSense controller came for $74.99 a pop. This pricing is on par with the other colored DualSense controllers, such as Nova Pink.

In relatively recent times, PlayStation released the ultimate DualSense controller called DualSense Edge, and this is one doozy of a gamepad. Although it comes for a pretty steep price, what it brings to the table is far higher than what any other controller has managed to do so before.

Features such as swappable stick caps, replaceable stick modules, customizable button mapping, and a more immersive feel of DualSense’s haptics and adaptive triggers all make up for its $200 asking price, more or less. Oh, and there’s a braided USB cable as well to help you get by with wired connections on the fly.
