Halo Infinite Fan Making His Own BR Mode In Forge

A YouTuber is making his own Battle Royale mode for Halo Infinite in Forge

Halo Infinite finally launched after a great deal of waiting and following the poor reception to Halo 5: Guardians, it had much to accomplish. The burden was not merely on the campaign but also on the multiplayer component of the famous sci-fi first-person shooter.

Halo has a legacy in multiplayer games that can not be denied, as its predecessors had a great part in the popularisation and progression of multiplayer first-person shooters. Thus, the burden on Halo Infinite was no small one but many issues plagued it.

Along with the still prevalent horrible matchmaking issues that are plaguing the players, there are other complaints from the community as well, such as the lack of content, especially maps. Previous halo games had many iconic maps but Infinite seems to be lacking.

One of the crucial aspects of shooting games these days is indubitably a Battle Royale mode. Just see how popular BR games are such as Fortnite, PUBG, Apex Legends, Call of Duty Warzone, and Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout, among many others.

If Halo Infinite was to live up to the Halo games legacy and compete with modern online shooters, it would certainly need a BR mode, however, 343 Industries had not announced any plans regarding it. However, it was revealed by Jez Corden that a BR mode was in development since 2020, dubbed Tatanka.

He revealed that Certain Affinity was developing the BR mode while 343 Industries was focusing on the core multiplayer and story DLC for Halo Infinite. This is not Certain Affinity’s first time working on a Halo game, as it has been involved with Halo multiplayer ever since Halo 2, along with working on multiplayer components for many other games.

However, Tatanka is still far away and Halo Infinite fans are impatient. One fan, however, has taken up the gigantic task to help their fellow brethren. Halo fan Harley Gomez has been working on a BR mode of their own for Halo Infinite, made in Halo Infinite’s Forge.

Recently, Harley Gomez has succeeded in reaching their first goal, making a detailed and functional drop pod.

As can be seen, the drop pod indeed is impressive. Many would say it’s nothing special, but it should be easy to judge how monumental a challenge Harley Gomez is tackling. It’s essentially creating a new game within a game. Harley would have to create mechanics, scripts, and so much more, so it is safe to say that work is far from over.

Halo Infinite’s Forge has significantly more advanced scripting capabilities than previous mode versions. For instance, it’s possible to create scripts that make objects dispense powerups, automatically flip vehicles upright when they tip over, and spawn in “airstrikes” that drop explosive fusion coils on the map when activated.

Tatanka is expected to release in Fall 2023, at the earliest according to rumors. It may be even more far off than that, so we’ve got quite a lot of time before we can play a BR match in Halo Infinite, but we can rest assured that progress is being made towards that, not just by developers, but fans as well.

Halo Infinite is not a small name in gaming, same as the Halo series is not unknown to many. Halo launched right alongside the first Xbox console among its first exclusives and took the world by storm. It quickly became one of the premier first-person shooters of the time, with its captivating story, likable characters, and thrilling gameplay.

With the release of Halo 2, Halo became a household name among console owners. Leveraging the newly launched Xbox Live services and online features of Xbox consoles, it was quickly propelled to stardom.

Not only was the gameplay vastly improved, but the story also was quite brilliant and enthralling, not to mention the multiplayer component garnering the most acclaim.

Halo 2 greatly contributed to the popularity of online console gaming but in particular, first-person shooting games. Subsequent Halo games also had their own contributions that made them great games. As such, Halo Infinite has a lot to accomplish. We sincerely hope that 343 Industries works hard and delivers with this game.
