Story Highlights
- Stellar Blade by Korean developer Shift Up is now making waves across the globe for its high quality.
- The game has gotten off to a solid start in Japan, debuting at the top spot in its first week after release.
- The game is an action-adventure, hack-and-slash RPG and a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
Stellar Blade is coming in hot these days, following its global release not too long ago. The PlayStation 5 exclusive is currently ranking at the top of sales charts in Japan, as reported by a trusted Japanese video game analyst Genki. Although it’s been two weeks since the title came out, this collected data is from the week of Stellar’s Blade launch, published late because of the Golden Week holiday in Japan.

In all fairness, this does not come as a surprise. Stellar Blade showcases blends that have drawn inspiration from multiple top-tier pertinent franchises, including Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, and even Nier, particularly Nier: Automata. I remember back when the devs showed off extended gameplay footage of the title, everyone jumped to call Stellar Blade “Nier with guns.”
And it’s not just Japan that has observed Stellar Blade’s sky-rise success. A week ago, the game became a best-seller in the UK as well, coupled by rumblings that speak of the title selling over 1 million copies within 24 hours of its launch. One could already tell with no effort that Stellar Blade will meet publisher expectations, given that they’re kept in check.
