Ubisoft Ivory Tower appears to be spearheading the development of The Crew Motorfest, which was first teased a little over 3 weeks ago. The developer is responsible for working on the first two The Crew games as well.
On the flip side, though, some crucial details regarding the racing simulator also surfaced in recent times. For one, datamining revealed that Motorfest started out as plain and simple DLC for The Crew 2 but was later made to be a totally separate game, rebuilt from the ground up.
Internally, the game was titled Project Orlando, and circulating rumors in the past seem to conform that Motorfest was only planned as DLC for The Crew 2. Things took a drastic turn at some point during the project’s development, and the people up high saw heightened potential.
Moreover, the surfacing leaks already described the setting of the upcoming racer. Apparently, at the time, which has now been confirmed, The Crew Motorfest finds itself taking place in a Hawaiian island of O’ahu, allowing players to traverse gorgeous landscapes in blazing-fast fashion.
Getting a little sentimental with the official announcement there, the Creative Director of the French-based Ubisoft Ivory Tower studio has described how the developers have come so far from where they started out.
15 years ago a group of friends dreamed of creating their own driving game. Ubisoft trusted them. Ivory gave birth to #TheCrew. 15 years later 40 million players have joined the adventure.
