Several players are reporting the “EA App not working” issue on EA support forums. Sometimes, you might not even be able to launch the EA app. Regardless, issues like these prevent you from playing many of your favorite games. Additionally, the fact that the developers have not officially addressed any of these problems adds to the frustration and disappointment of the players.
If the EA App is still not working, follow these methods:
- Add the EA app to the exceptions list of your antivirus software.
- Clear the EA app’s cache.
- Repair EA App.
- Delete the Origin client.
- Contact the official EA customer support if none of these methods are effective.
Tip: I recommend trying basic stuff first, such as restarting your PC, rebooting your modem, and updating Windows.
Disable Your Antivirus Software
While your Antivirus software keeps you safe from dangerous viruses, it can also affect programs on your PC that are not real threats.
This could potentially be the reason why the EA App is not working as intended. You should confirm this by temporarily disabling the default Windows Firewall Defender and any other 3rd-party antivirus software. Other players also report that whitelisting the EA app has helped them overcome this issue.
Follow these steps to disable Windows Defender Firewall:
- Open the Windows settings.
- In settings, click the Update & Security > Windows Security.
- Click Firewall & Network Protection.
- You will see three firewall options: Domain Network, Private Network, and Public Network.
- You must disable all of them to turn off Windows Defender Firewall.
Now, see if the EA app is working. If it is working, then you’ve identified the problem. Now proceed to add the EA app to the list of exceptions in your antivirus.
- You can see detailed steps on whitelisting an application in your antivirus software in this guide.
Clear The EA App’s Cache
While cache files can optimize the application, an excessive accumulation of cache can have a detrimental effect. You might experience crashes, or the app might not start up properly. In this case, you should clear all the built-up cache for the EA App.
Sometimes, apps on my PC randomly stop working. It’s not a common occurrence, but it does happen. Clearing the cache solves it for me most of the time. If you need a few pointers on how to do it, check out our detailed guide.
Repair The EA App
Some essential files required to run an application can occasionally disappear or get corrupted. The same can occur with the EA app, causing it not to work or malfunction entirely. Fortunately, Microsoft Windows offers a simple way to verify and repair these files. Follow these steps to do it:
- Open the Windows system settings > Apps.
- Find the EA App from the list and click on it.
- Now click Advanced Options. This will open a new window.
- Here, scroll down and click Repair to fix potentially corrupted files.
Check Your Internet Connection
A lot of the time, most network errors can be attributed to your internet connection.
- If you are experiencing such errors, you should verify whether your internet works as intended. You can use services like speed test or Fast to determine whether your internet connection is working normally or not.
- Additionally, 3rd-party influences like a VPN can also lead to various errors. Therefore, turn off any 3rd-party tools that influence your internet connection.
- Furthermore, restart your router and then launch the EA app to see if it works. If your internet is working as intended, the network error could be caused by the EA servers instead. If so, you should wait until the backend issue is resolved.
I struggled with a very slow internet connection, which made me encounter various errors in network-related applications. Upgrading and optimizing the connection fixed all of these errors.
Contact The EA Customer Support
If you have exhausted all your options and the “EA app not working” issue remains unresolved, you should contact the official EA customer support. You can do it by going to EA’s official Twitter account dedicated to supporting EA-related issues.
You can @EAHelp and explain your problem, along with any screenshots that can narrow it down. Once tweeted, EA will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also directly message their Twitter account instead of making a public tweet.
I’ve reached out to EA support in the past, and although it may not match the quality of Steam’s support, it still effectively does its job and has been very helpful to me.
There are still endless things that can go wrong with the EA app. If you have encountered a niche problem that seems impossible to fix, I recommend switching to an application like Steam. However, even if you decide to stick to EA, my methods in this guide will help you fix the app so you can get back to playing your favorite games.
