Downloads For Game Extras Disabling On Origin After 13th June

The digital distribution platform will no longer have downloadable extras available.

Making video games isn’t as easy as it seems from the outside. Lots of components come together to make a great title and stuff like the gameplay is just one part of it. Music, character designs, and soundtrack are equally important in making a good game.

Lots of these things, like the soundtrack and art of video games, are available in the form of extras. You can probably find them all over the internet without any hassle. But, one common place for game extras is the Origin storefront made by EA.

Origin is only available on PC and is used to buy and play titles from the company on the platform. It also has other items like soundtracks from these games available for download. However, this feature is apparently going away very soon.

Players will no longer be able to download extras for EA titles through Origin and the EA application. This change will come into effect from June 13, 2022, and extras won’t be available on the mentioned platforms. EA made this change official through a notice on their website.

The official notice from the company said, Beginning June 13, 2022, game extras for EA titles will be unavailable through Origin and the EA app. But worry not — you can still download game extras directly to your device.”

However, the company has given us some alternative ways to download extras. You can still download the extras directly to your device, just not through Origin. All of them are available directly on the website and that is a good way to obtain them.

Removing extras from Origin does make this complicated for the players. It’s been a common practice to download extras from the website so this can be confusing for some. Getting them is still very easy but if they are available on the website there is no reason to remove them from Origin.

We all know how EA are so this is no surprise coming from them to be very honest. They are also removing FIFA 20 from EA Play so these are just some rounds of changes happening. Hopefully, the players don’t find it very difficult to download extras after this week.
