The Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefors was recently asked for an update about one of its most anticipated projects, the Star Wars: KOTOR Remake. But the CEO seemingly refused to comment on the current state of the title. Additionally, the entry was not included in the latest Q2 earnings report at all. It is only barely addressed in the full financial document as a game that was announced in the past.

The lack of mentions of KOTOR Remake has raised eyebrows among analysts and players alike. One analyst questioned the CEO in the earnings call about the project (via Seeking Alpha) and received a negative response in the process.

I notice that anything I say to this becomes a headline, so that is my only comment,” said Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefors.

The comment made by the Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors for Star Wars: KOTOR Remake suggests that the title is in murky waters. Either it has been sacked or it is stuck deep in the pits of development hell.

The entry has been surrounded by a lot of confusion ever since it was announced. To put every recent update into a timeline, some official documents from May this year suggested that KOTOR Remake was still in development. The Q4 and full-FY Embracer Group report mentioned the title to be in the brewer “as of May 24, 2023.” However, It was only briefly included in the old report without any details.

The CEO has also declined to comment on the state of the game in the past. He answered during the questioning, “Favorite question [pauses as questioner chuckles]. I have no further comments.” It appears that the CEO does not want to bring up the topic of KOTOR Remake, as he has declined to provide updates on the project on multiple occasions at this point.

The fans thought that there might be a tinge of hope for the KOTOR Remake. However, a bizarre move by Embracer and the PlayStation Twitter page further complicated things at the end of September. Nearly all the mentions and the trailer for the project were removed from the account. The reason for the removal of content was noted to be a music license expiring, but it still managed to cause a lot of unease among the excited fans.
