Quantic Dream Is Working On A Triple-A Fantasy Title, Claims Insider

The French developer is developing a AAA title based off of its 2013 Dark Sorcerer tech demo according to insider @AccNgt.

ICYMI, Quantic Dream's second AAA project based on Dark Sorcerer is currently in development mainly by Quantic Dream Paris since a few years.

Star Wars Eclipse is being worked on since early 2021.

This unnamed AAA title is QD‘s 3rd game in development, the others being Star Wars: Eclipse, and a mobile card game.

Star Wars: Eclipse is rumored to release as late as 2027. It us unknown when the Dark Sorcerer based game will release, however it has been in development for a few years, and Eclipse has been in development since 2021. We can assume that Quantic Dream‘s fantasy title will release by the mid 2020’s.

It has been reported that this new title will be cross generation. However, these plans may change. It would not make much sense for a new game to release on last generation consoles so late into this decade. 

Like Detroit: Become Human, QD’s fantasy title will feature a nonlinear story, with the character being able to explore many branching paths. It will also be a narrative focused game. Action and adventure may take a backseat, however quick time events may be plenty in Quantic Dream fashion.

The game is currently being written by David Cage, studio head of Quantic Dream. Cage has written the stories for most Quantic Dream games, including Star Wars: Eclipse. 

The Dark Sorcerer was a tech demo released in 2013 by QD to demonstrate the technological capabilities of the PS4. Quantic Dream likes to tease its upcoming titles through tech demos such as this. 2018’s Detroit Become Human was first teased in a PS3 tech demo title “Kara” dating back to 2012.

It is said that Quantic Dream is having difficulty hiring talent at its Paris studio. The developer has been a source of controversy, with former employees detailing a culture of abuse and workplace harassment by managers. Star Wars fans spoke out against the involvement of the studio head David Cage by trending #BlackoutStarWarsEclipse on Twitter. 

Quantic Dream has a strong formula for its games, a formula that has found the studio great success. We will see if this success continues with their next title.
