Helldivers 2 is a third-person looter-shooter set in space, similar to the likes of Destiny 2 and other contemporary live-service titles. However, it sets itself apart by implementing certain systems that appear to have resonated with the players. Most GAAS titles tend to indirectly enforce or redirect the player to microtransactions. Arrowhead’s latest project handles this differently.
Players can acquire premium currency to use in the cash shop by playing Helldivers 2. Unlike competitor titles, the illusion of “earning” isn’t present as the game rewards you with a reasonable amount. Furthermore, the cash shop mainly consists of cosmetic items. Users have also praised the implementation of the battle pass system aka Warbonds.

Since its launch, Helldivers 2 has pulled players in droves due to its high-octane and fun co-op gameplay. Earlier this week, it managed to cross 80,000 players on Steam, surpassing God of War to become the best-performing PlayStation game on PC. Since then, it’s gone on to surpass 200,000 users, setting a new record for itself.
The third-person shooter came out on February 8, 2024, for the PlayStation 5 and PC, following its initial reveal at last year’s PlayStation Showcase. As per Arrowhead’s CEO, the title was in development for almost a decade and future content for the game won’t cost players a dime.
