Helldivers 2 “Blowing Through Estimates”; Already Sold About A Million Units

In a comparison with Palworld, the gap is still "very large."

Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter by well-grounded developed Arrowhead Game Studios.
As per the studio’s CEO, the game has already sold about a million copies across the board.
The title only came out about three days ago, launching to great user reception on PC.

Helldivers 2 is a new PlayStation 5 exclusive by Arrowhead Game Studios that also happened to launch on PC at the same time as well, launching to rave user reviews across the board. Little was known about the game’s sales figures, but Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt has shed some more light on that front while replying to a user on X, saying that the title’s sales are “around a million right now.”

Well… We are around a million right now, but yes. The gap is still very large.

A comparison of sold units between Helldivers 2 and Palworld was being drawn by X user zuppazone, when Johan intervened and cleared things up a little. In a follow-up tweet that inquired whether Sony, the publisher, would be disclosing the official sales numbers, the Arrowhead lead confirmed that Helldivers 2 is “blowing through estimates” at the moment, signaling a successful launch.

For those not in the know, Helldivers 2 has been tearing up Steam charts day in and day out the moment it came out. The third-person shooter has crossed over 150,000 concurrent players, as per data provided by SteamDB, while also becoming the number 1 top-seller on Valve’s platform as of late. Poaching right behind it in the category of paid top-sellers is Palworld, a monumentally successful RPG that has sent shockwaves across the industry.

Helldivers 2 as a Steam Top-Seller Right Now

On a side note, Johan recently expanded on Helldivers 2’s post-launch content on Discord and affirmed that the game will constantly receive more content in the name of enemies, weapons, objectives, biomes, and more and that all of it is bound to stay free. That along with something new that Arrowhead is currently working toward for Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 made landfall on February 8, 2024, for the PlayStation 5 and PC, with no cross-gen support. The game was announced back in 2023 during the PlayStation Showcase, and serves as the sequel to the first Helldivers from 2015 which was actually a top-down shooter.
