Helldivers 2 Patch v01.000.100 Brings Balance Changes And Environmental Challenges

Planetary Hazards have been made active, along with a ton of other changes.

Story Highlights

  • Helldivers 2’s latest patch, titled v01.000.100, has been declared a minor new update for the game.
  • However, the patch does bring a major new change—active Planetary Hazards i.e. environmental challenges.
  • A swath of bug fixes have also been rolled out as part of the latest update, along with tweaks to Strategems.

Just in case you thought Helldivers 2 was going to pace down a bit until the devs ready more content for the live service shooter, it appears Arrowhead has proved itself efficient, bringing a major new change to the title in the name of Planetary Hazards in its latest update. Moving forward, you’ll be going up against Fire Tornadoes in the midst of all the chaos, so it won’t just be bugs or robots that players will have to watch out for.

Many planets now have additional environmental challenges that will appear at random while you are deployed, from fire tornadoes to meteor showers and many more,” confirms the patch notes.

Additionally, Eradicate-type missions in Helldivers 2 should take “twice as long to complete” as they were previously “shorter than intended.” It’s now going to take more kills, with your foes spawning in the game world more frequently. In other words, things are about to go the next level with these types of missions. On a side note, here is a rundown of some of the most prominent bug fixes:

  • Fixed armor rating values not reducing damage as intended.
  • Fixed certain Bug Holes (including Stalker Nests) that were unnecessarily hard to destroy.
  • Fixed anti-aliasing toggle not working on PS5.
  • Balanced lighting across all planets to solve cases where the game was too dark.
  • Improved flashlight efficacy.
  • Increased visibility during “sand rain” weather on Erata Prime.
  • Updated tutorial materials and lighting.

It’s the sequel to the first Helldivers from 2015, which was actually a top-down shooter and not fully decked out like the successor to the franchise.
