Story Highlights
- Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an upcoming JRPG by Capcom and a sequel to the first Dragon’s Dogma from 2012.
- A recent changelog edit spotted by a Redditor has ignited hopes for a demo release of the game.
- Capcom is currently silent, and we cannot confirm if a demo is truly coming for Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of the biggest games of the year that a lot of people are looking forward to, actively pushing the proponent of 2024 being outright excellent for JRPGs. However, a new rumor indicates that prior to the title’s official release, we could be getting a playable demo of Dragon’s Dogma 2. An eagle-eyed Redditor spotted the following change on SteamDB.
The remark under the “Billing Type” subsection is what’s giving it away.
It bears noticing though that most high-class Capcom games get playable demos, including Resident Evil 8, Street Fighter 6, and more, so Dragon’s Dogma 2 following suit is pretty much expected at this point, and welcome all the same. As the news found itself circulating on Reddit, people marched in to voice their opinion as well. One u/Crewchief22 says,
Demo for the first game is what sold me on it back in the day, really hope we get a demo for the second too. Very interested to see how it performs on PS5 and PC, the framerate has been a concern for a while.”
And rightfully so, Dragon’s Dogma 2 was previously rumored to support only up to 30 FPS on consoles. However, the director of the title Hideaki Itsuno took to X (or Twitter) recently, confirming that the forthcoming JRPG will sport uncapped frame rates at launch. That said, it’s still unclear whether this goes for all platforms, or just PC, which would actually make sense given the 30 FPS restriction rumor as of late.
