A new Neuralink demo shows the patient Noland Arbaugh playing chess with only his thoughts. In other words, the patient—who is paralyzed below the shoulders—enjoyed an online game of chess using a brain implant. The potentially life-changing tech was shared by the company on Twitter in a live stream to showcase actual “telepathy.” Noland was able to move the cursor and interact with the computer with his eyes.

In the video, Noland claims that the implant “has already changed my life.” However, the gamer acknowledges that “there’s still a lot of work to be done.” The team has apparently “run into some issues.” Besides chess, the patient also admitted that he has played Civilization 6 for eight hours straight using the Neuralink brain implant. He only stopped because the batteries ran out.
Brain Implants May Revolutionize The Gaming Industry Among Many Fields
The new Neuralink brain implant test on Noland Arbaugh showed some great results for playing games. It may improve accessibility in gaming to a whole other realm never seen before. Additionally, the tech can be expected to open new doors for paralyzed gamers, likely leading it to become an effective way of interacting with computers altogether. However, the long-term effects surrounding these brain implants are still a mystery.
