Baldur’s Gate 3 Wins Game Of The Year Award At The 2024 Game Developers Choice Event

The game hogs yet another GOTY trophy.

Story Highlights

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 has won the Game of the Year award at the 2024 Game Developers Choice Awards event.
  • The entry also won the Best Narrative, Best Design, and the Audience Awards.
  • It also won many awards last year and surpassed all the expectations of devs and fans alike.

During the recent GDC (Game Developers Choice) 2024 event, Baldur’s Gate 3 won the Game of the Year award. It competed against giants like The Legends of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for the trophy. However, that’s not all, the RPG has also gained awards for positions like Best Narrative, Best Design, and the Audience Awards.

The list of nominees was huge this year, making the competition that much tougher and interesting to watch. Hi-Fi Rush swiped the Best Audio award, while Tears of the Kingdom earned the Best Technology and Best Innovation awards. Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2 also stood out among many other competitors and acquired the Best Visual Art award. Unfortunately, Final Fantasy 16 does not appear to have won any awards.

Striding smoothly into 2024, Larian Studios’ magnum opus has continued to overshadow notable releases. The entry has left an indelible mark on the gaming industry for featuring some of the best RPG mechanics; no wonder the game has now sold over 10 million copies. It is also highly popular on Steam Deck, recently dominating the 100 most-played games charts for the last 12 months straight.
