Back 4 Blood Sequel Possibly In Development Already

A few instances are giving away the secret.

Story Highlights

  • Back 4 Blood is a cooperative first-person shooter from the developers of the iconic Left 4 Dead.
  • Turtle Rock Studios might currently be looking into the development of a Back 4 Blood sequel.
  • No official confirmation has come forth at the moment, so do take the info with a pinch of salt.

Back 4 Blood, the promising new first-person shooter by Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock Studios, might very well be getting followed up by a sequel. Some semblance of evidence suggests the developer is already knee-deep into the development of the new title, but since no official corroboration has arrived as of yet, it’s best to take in the info with a grain of salt.

For starters, there’s the iStunt profile of Jesse Hutch, which clearly states motion capture work for Gobi 2. What’s that, you may ask?

If you take a good look at Back 4 Blood’s SteamDB page, an earlier entry mentions the codename “Gobi” (h/t MP1st). The entry on the aforementioned iSuit page gives away that much pretty easily, indicating that Gobi 2 could very well be Back 4 Blood 2. Furthermore, a domain named “back4blood2.com” was also spotted on Whois in the past.

Back 4 Blood Is Highly Enjoyable In Its Own Right

Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead’s Eminence Knows No Bounds

Well, that’s if you don’t compare the shooter with its spiritual predecessor, Left 4 Dead. That one has left a legacy in its wake, and it could only be at Valve’s discretion to continue the franchise in the same vein as the first two titles in the series.

Back 4 Blood attempts to come close to the magic of Left 4 Dead, given it’s from the same developer, but ends up falling short on multiple levels, such as not featuring a proper Versus mode, and a complex card-based system that may not be suited to everyone’s liking.

That is to say, try giving this game an honest shot, and you’ll find that the experience comes up as fairly enjoyable all the same.
