7 Solid Games Worth Picking Up During PlayStation’s Latest May Savings

The Resident Evil 4 remake for 50% off is a real treat.

Story Highlights

  • The PlayStation Store is currently running a site-wide promotion on some high-end games.
  • The sale is set to last until May 8, and discounts over 2,000 different items on the PS Store.
  • Some of the titles worth investing in include Resident Evil 4, Doom Eternal, and Titanfall 2.

The PlayStation Store is no stranger to deal and discounts that usually go live every month, but the May Savings event is really something else. It cuts down the MSRP of multiple distinguished titles that otherwise cost a pretty penny, so if you’ve been meaning to save up and dive right in at the right moment, this is quite it.

Lo and behold some of the best games that you can get on a discount right now thanks to the PlayStation Store’s latest sales promotion. Of course, don’t expect to find the likes of Stellar Blade on here, meaning that super new releases typically don’t benefit from sales this early, but the library of titles that have been discounted is indeed worth looking into.

These High-Tier Games Are Nothing To Overlook At These Prices

In case you spot more great deals, make sure to spread awareness about them down in the comments section.

1. Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 is the Epitome of Remakes Right Now
  • Genre: Third-Person Shooter, Survival Horror
  • Release Date: March 24, 2023
  • Developer: Capcom

Having sold more than 7 million copies to date, the Resident Evil 4 remake is the celebration of the 2005-released original, built from the ground up with authenticity in mind. I’ve personally poured hundreds of hours into the third-person shooter and found myself thrilled at every turn and set piece. Make sure to give it a go if you haven’t already at $19.99, which is what it’s priced at on the PS Store as of now.

2. Final Fantasy 16

Final Fantasy 16
Final Fantasy 16 is a Must-Buy for Fans of the RPG Genre
  • Genre: Role-Playing Game
  • Release Date: June 22, 2023
  • Developer: Square Enix

I love Final Fantasy 16 because it’s welcoming to beginners, and not just veterans of the Final Fantasy franchise who live and breathe this series. And on top of that, prepare for humongous Eikon boss fights that are literally a sight to behold. The length of the story is appreciable as well, clocking in at around 38 hours long, and the overall combat feels quite modern. At $34.99, you can’t overlook it.

3. Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a Metroidvania Done Right
  • Genre: Side-Scroller, Platformer
  • Release Date: January 18, 2024
  • Developer: Ubisoft

Ubisoft really pulled this one out of nowhere, instilling a Metroidvania format in a Prince of Persia game, taking fans aback with what it showed during last year’s Ubisoft Forward. After lukewarm initial impressions, the French industry giant won over hearts with The Lost Crown’s terrific gameplay and great replayability that leaves you with a lot to explore even after beating the mainline quest.

4. Doom Eternal

  • Genre: FPS, Single-Player
  • Release Date: March 20, 2020
  • Developer: id Software

At a whopping 75% off, Doom Eternal is certainly worth picking up and an easy recommendation thanks to its gore-first gameplay mechanics, intense battles, and atmospheric narrative action. I’m not sure if the multiplayer modes of the title are still alive, given how it’s a single-player game that came out about 4 years ago, but at $9.99, you can’t really complain, can you?

5. Titanfall 2

  • Genre: First-Person Shooter
  • Release Date: October 28, 2016
  • Developer: Respawn Entertainment

Even cheaper than Doom Eternal and just as much fun or even more if you’re an FPS enthusiast is Titanfall 2 on the PS Store, priced way below than one would expect at $4.99. Respawn Entertainment went ahead and outdid itself with the campaign of this shooter, putting forth such a unique system that’s best enjoyed in multiplayer, though coursing through it offline is also an option, but one I recommend against.

6. Batman: Arkham Knight

Batman: Arkham Knight
Batman: Arkham Knight is Back From the Golden Days of Rocksteady
  • Genre: Action-Adventure, Open-World
  • Release Date: June 23, 2015
  • Developer: Rocksteady Studios

Riddle me this: What costs $3.99 and is one of the best superhero games ever made? Seriously though, you’re getting this game for dirt cheap during PlayStation’s May Savings. It’s an action-packed, beat-’em-up thriller that places you in the shoes of The Caped Crusader himself, featuring terrific combat, great exploration, and a wealth of content to immerse into.

7. Lords Of The Fallen Deluxe Edition

Lords of the Fallen
Lords of the Fallen is One of the Better Soulslikes We’ve Seen So far
  • Genre: RPG, Soulslike
  • Release Date: October 13, 2023
  • Developer: Hexworks

In a sea of FromSoftware imitations that tend to come across as lackluster, Lords of the Fallen is out there flexing in novelty thanks to its super unique “realm-switching” mechanic, which insinuates that death is not the end for our Crusader protagonist. Thanks to the title’s popularity which saw it rolling over more than 1.2 million copies, the developer Hexworks greenlit multiple other projects in the pipeline, with one of them possibly being a Lords of the Fallen sequel.
