Here Are Some Suggestions For Fast-Paced Games To Keep You Going

Blink and die, at least that's the case with Ultrakill.

Story Highlights

  • Those with a striking inclination toward fast-paced games won’t find a lot of endearing options.
  • Games such as Ultrakill and Mullet MadJack, however, seem to be the perfect choices in this regard.
  • Fast-paced games are adrenaline-fueled, and require a fair bit of focus and attention to detail.

The “fast-paced video game” happens to be my absolute go-to whenever I want to work my brain with positive reinforcement. I mean, I’m all for narrative-driven experiences like Red Dead Redemption 2, which is quite one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences considering the quality on display, but when the heart wants what it wants, I know what I’m going for without a second thought in mind.

Titles such as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Ghostrunner 2 get my heart pumping blood like nothing else, and I’m glad I get to share these curated suggestions with you in the form of this feature. Make sure to sift through each listing diligently for the best results, as we dive right into the crux of the discussion ahead.

The Action Never Skips A Beat With These Titles

In case you have a suggestion to make, feel free to post a comment down below and talk to us all about your favorite fast-paced game that gets you going.

1. Mullet MadJack

The first on the list is a little lesser-known as compared to the icons I’ve got on the rest of the list, but make no mistake, Mullet MadJack is a game that’s based on pure adrenaline. That’s in the sense that the hyperactive first-person shooter is having you kill an enemy every couple of seconds. Is that fast-paced enough for you?

The resemblances to Ultrakill are strikingly obvious, yet Mullet MadJack does not struggle with an identity crisis or anything of the sort. Your movement options in this game are fairly restricted — which is something that adds to the difficulty — but the weaponry on the flip side is fairly brutal.

2. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

One of my personal favorites, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is one gem that never got treated to a sequel or a modern-day iteration in the name of a remaster or a remake, and that’s just a tragedy on its own. This PlatinumGames’ masterpiece is a third-person, hack-and-slash, balls-to-the-wall action-oriented title with arguably one of the most iconic villains in gaming history, the Senator. And always remember,

You don’t f*ck with this Senator.”

With exceptional boss fights, ridiculous humor, a likable protagonist, and unbelievable “meme” potential, Revengeance is a must-play for everyone across the board.

3. Titanfall 2

Respawn’s Titanfall 2 is something that manages to hold up in excellent fashion despite coming out nearly a decade ago. That’s right. The electric first-person shooter was released in 2016 to great fanfare, garnering critical acclaim for its gunplay, an exceptional hybrid campaign, and fantastic Titan combat. I don’t see a reason to skip this one if you’re after fast-paced games, that’s for sure.

And while you’re at that, keep praying that the developers revisit the franchise going forward. Titanfall 3 seriously needs to happen, and with the times and tech of today, it could be the next big thing in the FPS genre.

4. Doom Eternal

It doesn’t really get as brutal and fast-paced as Doom Eternal, the latest iteration in the Doom franchise that offers a fairly gratifying campaign experience. The iconic franchise is one of the pioneers of the first-person shooter genre itself, and I’m so glad Eternal did not turn out a disappointment. The title also happens to feature one of gaming’s most iconic protagonists — the Doomguy — so there’s that as well.

5. Ghostrunner 2

Selling more than 2.5 million copies over the course of its release, Ghostrunner 2 is one of my favorites on the list thus far. Everything from the music and the world design down to the gameplay and motion-concentrated abilities is outright fantastic in this one, serving as a top, top sequel to 2020’s Ghostrunner. Oh, and this one has vehicular gameplay as well, adding a nice mix to the title’s overall gameplay.

6. Ultrakill

Ultrakill makes it clear and known that it’s right up there at the top when it comes to speed-centric, mindless action shooters. With this one and Doom Eternal combined, you’re truly looking at a revolution for this genre here, and not without good reason. The game features a variety of movement options, great progression, and minimal abilities to keep things simple yet all the more entertaining.

Oh, and it’s one of those games that are best enjoyed at a higher difficulty, so make sure you put it on “hard” to make the most out of it.
