Hogwarts Legacy Expelliarmus: How To Unlock & Use

For every Harry Potter fan, it must be amazing news that the game developers added the infamous Expelliarmus in Hogwarts Legacy. Its effects remain the same as they were in the books and movies. Since it was one of the main spells Harry used, it was expected to have some strong suit to it. Getting the Expelliarmus in Hogwarts Legacy is quite simple and easy when compared to the other tasks. 

How To Learn & Unlock Expelliarmus 

You can get your hands on Expelliarmus pretty early in Hogwarts Legacy’s Campaign so you won’t have to wonder how to get it. Like every other spell in the game, Expelliarmus is unlocked by learning it. You will learn it specifically from Professor Hecat. She will teach you this spell through an assignment so you will have to do these tasks and get back to her in order to essentially get how to learn the Expelliarmus in Hogwarts Legacy.

Prerequisite 

Now before you go Expelliarmus-ing around, you must know the prerequisite of it. You have to of course unlock the Incendio. You will be able to do that through the quest “Professor Hecat’s Assignment 1”. Professor Hecat assigns it to you when you’re in the Defence Against The Dark Arts Class. It will be easy since all you have to do is win two rounds of Crossed Wands and spend some time practicing the spell combos with Lucan. 

You also have to complete the main quest known as the “Secrets Of The Restricted Section” in which you try to sneak around with Sebastian in the restricted area. Try not to get caught too. Once you find the book, “Professor Hecat’s Assignment 2” will be logged in your book. You won’t be able to trace and track it as you can do with other quests. 

Crossed Wands 

Now, this mini-tournament is what’s going to help you with your assignment. You see, the reward for the Assignment is the Expelliarmus Spell. You would essentially have to do two tasks for the assignment. These tasks aren’t that hard but can be a little bit more challenging than the previous missions. 

• Cast Incendio On Your Enemies About Five Times.
• Successfully Avoid Enemy Attacks Through Dodge Rolling Ten Times.

You can do these tasks by experiencing the open world if you like but if you want to do it as fast as possible the Crossed Wands is the answer. What you have to do is talk to Lucan Brattleby who runs the whole Cross Wands dueling club. To enter the final rounds of the tournament you have a level 3 and of course, play the previous levels and win. 

Now you will face Four Hogwarts students along with a companion of your choosing. The companion won’t do much so you have to 1v4 this charade. This duel will completely rely on your dueling skills and the way you dodge their spells. You can easily first roll away and dodge the spells cast at you. When it comes to the Incendio spell, you should know that it is a close-ranged spell so it is best to break their shields. 

Back Tracking To Professor Hecat 

After this, you will now have completed the tasks of Assignment 2. Along with it, you will become the Crossed Wands Champion as well. Talk about killing two birds with one stone, am I right? Now you will have to backtrack towards the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom through the tower. There is a lot of backtracking in Hogwarts Legacy so make sure you access the Floo Flames from the map to reach your desired destinations. 

Learning Expelliarmus 

When you finally get to the Professor she will teach you how to do the Expelliarmus Spell in Hogwarts Legacy. When you learn spells you have to trace a drawn symbol or corresponding letter. These are extremely easy but keep in mind that you have to be flexible with your movements. If you are not quick with your movements or don’t press the buttons at the correct time you will get caught by the Red Streak. 

Effects Of Expelliarmus 

Most of you may already be familiar with the schematics of an Expelliarmus. It has a really similar effect to the one in the books and the movies. It disarms an opponent’s weapon or wand when in battle. This can be a nifty trick when you are fighting an experienced wizard as it can damage them a little as well. Although you have to look out for the bigger stronger bosses since the spell won’t be able to disarm their weapons. 

Expelliarmus is really one of the best spells early on in Hogwarts Legacy as there are much smaller opponents to fight. When you combo this spell with spells like Levioso or Protego you can do a good amount of Damage. Therefore, make sure you have your combos straight and place your spells strategically. We say that because of how the Cooldown timer of the Expelliarmus can affect your gameplay and force you to get help from your companions in Hogwarts Legacy.

Type Of Spell 

Each spell in Hogwarts Legacy has been categorized into classes and types of spells. Expelliarmus is a Damage Type spell even though it has those defensive elements to it. The thing that makes it superior to other weapons is that you can combo it and make an impact on your opponent.

You do have to be careful when selecting the enemy that you will use this spell on. It’s not every day you can beat an Avada Kedavra with an Expelliarmus. So make sure you use it on the enemies carrying annoying weaponry. Just cycle it off when it’s not necessary and bring it back when it’s most needed in the spells section.
