Warzone 2: Quarry’s Operations Folder Explained

The Operations Folder found at the Quarry in Warzone might be a glitch, or it could mean something more

When you’re at the Al-Safwa Quarry and busy looting for weapons and resources, one peculiar item you’ll most likely come across is an Operations folder. While it may seem useless at first, it certainly has a few stats about it that make it interesting.

Key Highlights

  • The Quarry is one of the classic maps from the original 2009 Modern Warfare 2 that can be visited in Warzone 2.0
  • This area of Al Mazrah features the exact landmarks, buildings, and routes as its original counterpart.
  • You can find the Operations folder at the Quarry with a lore-like description and an insane value.

What Is The Operations Folder?

The operations folder is a strange item in the game with no backstory. Appearance-wise, it looks similar to a keycard that you’d find in the previous Warzone. The most intriguing thing about it is that it’s worth $1000 in the game, making it one of the most valuable items you can find.

The folder carries a vague description where it ties in Warzone 2.0 with Modern Warfare 2’s world and story. The item description of the operations folder states:

“Documents detailing Al-Qatala’s various operations, incoming and outgoing shipments, employees, customers, and government contracts. The documents also contain time stamps of shipments received unusually late at night, indicating shipments being moved under cover of darkness.”

For those who are unaware, Al-Qatala is one of the major enemy organizations in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s campaign. According to the description, the operations folder seems to be highly important for the organization. It contains sensitive and confidential info regarding Al-Qatala’s military and government.

Location Of The Operations Folder

The operations folder is only found in the northern part of the Al-Safwa Quarry in Call of Duty Warzone 2.0. Make your way to the broken-down warehouse at the center of the Quarry and walk north via the dirt tracks.

As you follow along, you’ll eventually see a flight of stairs to your left leading to an operations room with a massive crane on top. Go inside the room, and you’ll see the operations folder lying in the corner.

Does This Folder Have Any Value?

Although this operation folder has a bulky value, it’s pretty much unusable inside or outside the quarry in Warzone 2.0. As of writing this guide, you can’t redeem any cash from this folder at a buy station. So you can’t buy a killstreak or equipment from this scarce yet unprofitable item.

It’s also not a part of any objective or mission in Warzone 2.0, so it can’t be used to unlock weapons or any other in-game items. Moreover, you can neither unlock any secret locations with this folder in the game, unlike the keycards in Warzone 1. Overall, this item doesn’t seem to have much value besides the intriguing description.

Dev’s Connection With This Item So Far

The developers have been completely silent on this mysterious document thus far. The folder has not been mentioned anywhere in Warzone 2.0’s patch notes or by any member of the Infinity Ward staff. This could be because of the rarity of the item. As mentioned, you can only find the operations folder in the quarry, and there’s only a single quantity of this folder in Warzone 2.0.

Where Will The Folder End Up?

Perhaps this item could be a simple glitch. Many players have speculated it to be as such and believe that it’ll be patched out of the game within a few updates. With no intrinsic value whatsoever, the folder feels like a misplaced item that should’ve been in DMZ as a lore piece instead.

However, others believe that the folder could be an important easter egg. Several easter eggs in COD’s recent history became more influential as time went on. One example is the Vodianoy battleship in Warzone 1, which was insignificant most of the game until it turned into a prominent area on the map that you could visit and kill zombies in.

In this case, the second half of the folder’s description that’s talking about late-night shipments could suggest a big event. Maybe Infinity Ward is hinting toward a map expansion or more secret routes in Al Mazrah. Still, there’s no other piece of the puzzle, and this is all mere speculation.

Other Items At The Quarry

While the operations folder might be the rarest thing you find at the Al-Safwa Quarry, it’s far from being useful. Thankfully, there is some useful gear that you could equip and actually use. The Quarry is a large industrial area that focuses on valuable loot and supplies to ready you up for engagements.

Weapons And Crates

To start, your primary objective is to explore the 2 blue warehouses on the eastern side of the Al-Safwa Quarry. You’ll find roughly around 20-25 loot crates here, and most of them will be in those 2 buildings. These loot crates will mainly have some of the best SMGs and LMGs semi-loaded with attachments, along with a lot of armor plates. You’ll also find a few loot crates atop the poly drums here as well, so be sure to climb them for extra equipment.

Equipment

Speaking of equipment, the Quarry is loaded with a Heartbeat Sensor, one of the best equipment in Warzone 2.0. This can be found in the big warehouse right at the center of the Quarry, right next to the building with the operations folder. Besides that, there is also an abundance of lethal equipment here as well. So if your playstyle requires you to have a specific equipment loadout, this is a warehouse you should search.

Vehicles

The Quarry also comes well-equipped with 2-3 vehicles, usually including an ATV, so if you’re looking to suit up for covering long distances, there’s your ticket. These vehicles are even more crucial here since the Quarry is at the north-western edge of the map. Therefore, the safe zone will most likely be far away from this location, so having a quick mode of transport helps a lot.

Conclusion

That wraps up our guide on the mysterious Operations folder found at the Quarry in Call of Duty Warzone 2.0. There are still a lot of questions regarding this item that cannot be answered for the time being. However, as time passes, it’s inevitable that the community will eventually notice this curious document and start discovering its secrets. Until then, try to find this document yourself and see what you can uncover!
