Octopath Traveler Champions Of The Continent Tier Ranking

Octopath Traveler CotC explained
Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent Tier Ranking (S-D)

There’s no serious harm in digging and trying every character at your disposal, but that would require a significant investment of effort and time. Plus, why not contest for the best from the start already? Rest your case on us as we will grade all Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent tier list characters below.

The ranking will be solely based on characters’ combat prowesses, followed by ordering them into tiers starting from the best of best S to the extremely low D class. As Champions of the Continent involves gacha mechanics, some units clearly prove more competent than the rest. Let’s see how:

S-Tier

Players who want to reap the most of the scarce in-game money and limited upgrade items money provided in Octopath Traveler, the best of the best CotC characters, are what they should be looking for. Best Characters Of Octopath Traveler Champions Of The Continent

Best of Octopath Traveler CotC
Best Characters of the Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent Tier List

Here are the top units of the Octopath Traveler CotC tier list that we think deserve your special attention compared to the rest:

Alfyn

The blonde-haired Alfyn continues from the storyline of the former Octopath Traveler to Champions of the Continent. He’s an Apothecary of the game who offers robust support to a CotC party via his awesome revive skill, cool status ailment eraser, and the very useful single-target heal.

Alfyn also puts great offensive abilities at a player’s disposal via its poison-inflicting spells and powerful weapons. The character is great in reviving, restoring BP and SP, cleansing and buffing himself and the rest of the party, as well as inflicting elemental damage on enemies.

Ophilia

Ophilia is also one of the eight playable characters OT players are offered. She is a Cleric of the Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent tier list known for her single elemental target defending buffs and a significantly extensive healing ability that proves beneficial for every ally.

Light-elemental spells are also one of Ophilia’s specialties. With defense, she is also pretty robust in attacking hence hailing as the top most versatile character of Octopath Traveler CotC. With her last Saving Grace, Support Skill, and Reflective Veil, Ophilia can swell her survivability as well as perform as a key anti-magic character in all quests.

All in all, Ophilia is a must-have team character via whom players will also be able to summon as many NPCs in the game, so don’t forget to ally her up!

Cyrus

This is another great buddy worthy of becoming a part of your Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent team. Perhaps calling Cyrus the best magic-oriented pick of the CotC tier list won’t be wrong either.

The Scholar class unit has a ton of spells in its arsenal to target enemies vulnerable to magic at an extensive scale. Cyrus may seem a little weak initially, but give him some time and enjoy the best of Octopath Traveler battles you might have ever before.

He will initially only employ a couple of staves hence accounting for lackluster damage rendering. Later, however, players will be able to see Cyrus outputting more than expected via his three robust types of elemental attacks.

Similarly, Cyrus also offers pretty scarce health and hardly any defending skill, but there are too elemental abilities to defend come into play. With Cyrus onboard, players will be able to uncover each enemy’s one weakness at the start of the game hence making the opponent’s side more vulnerable than ever.

Lynette

Lynette belongs to the dancer buffer class and is one of the best Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent tier list characters, if not the best. She does great buffing and needs absolutely no 5-star support to shine off. Lynette does a decent attack and magic UP of 15% in 2 to 5 turns at the beginning of any fight.

Plus, the character shifts from the front or back row and back swiftly, buffing up the entire party along the swapping. Furthermore, you’ll get great longevity with Lynette onboard and a massive SP stock to inflict out potent skills.

Players looking for even more punch might like swelling Lynette to her 5-star self, making her a one-of-a-kind Fire breaker and Strong Fan unit as she can break foes quickly via her multi-hit attacks.

Scarecrow

Despite the complicated gacha mechanism Octopath Traveler is known to hold, Scarecrow is a pretty simple-to-use unit of the many in the cast. The character is personally our favorite and renders quite substantial damage to support you in your initial OT journey.

However, players should not miss on bundling Scarecrow with his 5-star. Otherwise, the unit is just about damage and tends to show very little support. So yeah, build him up properly, and Scarecrow is easily an A-tier, very easy-to-maneuver character everyone will like in their teams.

Also, to mention the rather awkward characteristic of Scarecrow, the unit yields a bow to scare away the enemies. That’s surprising given its name, though; it’s basically what makes Scarecrow so flexible in handling.

All in all, if you are looking for a powerful physical damager who you can afford to invest a bit in, Scarecrow is a good option in that case.

That’s about our Octopath Traveler tier list for Champions of the Continent. As CotC is quite a fresh release, we look forward to updating our hierarchy as we get across more; therefore, don’t miss checking frequently. Given the usual subjective nature of the tier list, the above ranking must be taken as a guideline only, keeping in mind that all units can prove useful in the right circumstances.

Octopath Traveler Champions Of The Continent Tier List Criteria

The tier list above is curated after investing substantial time in researching the most reliable and definitive information possible. Every single CotC character and the utilities that come coupled with them were deeply scrutinized in the process.

Throughout the min-maxing of tiers, multiple online platforms were accessed to add credible opinions of new as well as long-time players in our Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent tier list.

That said, our main focus behind the making of the above hierarchy was not only a unit’s in-game effectiveness but also how the larger gamers community thinks about them. Also, considering that the OT’s Champions of the Continent release is still pretty fresh in the gaming realm, the JP version heavily influences our current hierarchy.
