Ogryn Class Playstyle

Here we will be listing two separate builds for the Ogryn- one for devastating your enemies in the endgame and one for leveling up efficiently so you can create the endgame build more quickly. But before getting into the builds, let us first explain all abilities that the Ogryn have.
Ogryn Abilities And Passive Abilities

- Bull Rush
- Intimidating Presence
- Grenade Box
- Thick Skin
- Excessive Force
- Loyal Protector
The Bull Rush is the ultimate ability of the Ogryn in which your character will charge toward the enemies in front of you and knock down all the enemies that get in your way. We will definitely not recommend sleeping on this ability. Try to align a ton of enemies in a straight line first before using this ability. You also gain 25% Attack Speed and 25% Movement Speed for 5 seconds after using this ability.
- The Intimidating Presence is a passive ability that increases your heavy attack damage by +10%. (Allies in Coherency)
- The Grenade Box ability will make your character throw a box full of grenades toward the enemy. It is a high-damage attack, so needless to say, use this ability when you spot tightly dense hordes heading your way.
- The Thick Skin is also a passive ability that increases your toughness damage reduction by +20%, and also increases your health damage reduction by +20%.
- The Excessive Force ability increases your Melee Stagger by +25%.
And finally, the Loyal Protector ability is a passive ability that allows the Ogryn to no longer be interrupted by damage while reviving or assisting an ally.
Now let us get into the builds for the Ogryn in Warhammer 40k Darktide.
The Leveling Build
As the name suggests, this build will allow you to level up more quickly so you can start doing the higher-difficulty missions as soon as possible. Now let us start off by first listing which feats you’ll need to select in this build.
Feats Required

Levels | Feats for the Leveling Build |
Level 5 | Lynchpin |
Level 10 | Blood and Thunder |
Level 15 | Towering Presence |
Level 20 | Bloodthirst |
Level 25 | Raging Bull |
Level 30 | Bullgore |
With this build, players will be able to efficiently kill every enemy as this build will allow them to stack up Bleed on said enemies very easily.
The Lynchpin
The Lynchpin feat will ensure that your Ogryn is as tough as it can be, and toughness is an important talent, especially in the early game. As far as stats go, the Lynchpin feat increases Toughness Replenishment to +100%.
The Blood And Thunder
This feat will add +1 Bleed Stack on heavy strikes, which can be extremely useful in certain scenarios, but we would recommend only selecting this feat once you have reached level 20 and unlocked the Bloodthirst feat.
Prior to that, simply use the Heavyweight feat, as it will increase your melee damage by +50%, and it also offers a 50% Damage Reduction.
The Towering Presence
The Towering Presence feat increases your coherency radius by 50%. It is extremely useful because now your allies will be able to move a bit far away from you while still being able to take advantage of the coherence bonuses.
The Bloodthirst
The Bloodthirst feat increases Damage resistance per Bleeding enemy at Melee Range by +10%. Pair it with the Blood And Thunder combo at level 10, and you got yourself a deadly combo.
The Raging Bull
After your initial attack, this feat will increase the damage of your next attacks by +5%. Not that impressive, but we found that for this build, the Raging Bull feat is definitely better than the other two feats available at level 25.
The Bullgore
And finally, the Bullgore feat directly complements the Bloodthirst feat and the Blood And Thunder feat as it adds a +2 Bleed Stack on enemies hit by the Bull Rush, making it a deadly ability.
The Endgame Ogryn Build
This build will allow you to stand a chance on missions with the highest difficulty, as it will let you kill your enemies a bit quicker and not get overwhelmed by hordes of enemies.
Feats Required

Levels | Feats for the End Game Build |
Level 5 | Smash ‘Em Good |
Level 10 | Blood and Thunder |
Level 15 | Bullfighter |
Level 20 | Bloodthirst |
Level 25 | Raging Bull |
Level 30 | Bullgore |
The Smash ‘Em Good
The Smash ‘Em Good ability replenishes 20% of toughness after heavy melee hits on single enemies. Considering how heavy attacks are going to be one of the backbones for this build, this feat can really help you out during battles.
The Blood And Thunder
We have already explained this feat in the Leveling Up build section but if you skipped that and started reading directly from the Endgame build section, then allow us to explain again.
The Blood And Thunder feat adds a +1 Bleed Stack on heavy strikes, and you will be using heavy strikes quite a lot in order to survive in higher-difficulty missions. This feat pairs up really well with the level 20 Bloodthirst feat.
The Bullfight
This ability gives you a +10% Bull Rush Cooldown when you or an ally in coherence kills an Elite enemy. The Bull Rush is your best friend in higher difficult missions as it can get you out of tricky situations seamlessly, so be sure to use it often.
The Bloodthirst
The rest of the feats are the same as the ones we listed in the leveling-up build, but we will explain them again, just in case.
The Bloodthirst feat increases Damage resistance per Bleeding enemy at Melee Range by +10%. It directly complements the Blood And Thunder ability as it allows you to inflict Bleed on enemies more easily.
The Raging Bull
After ramping up a ton of hits, you get a considerable damage boost as this ability increases your next melee hit damage by +5% after the initial attack.
The Bullgore
The Bullgore feat adds a +2 Bleed Stack on enemies hit by the Bull Rush. Since you will already be using the Bull Rush quite a lot, this ability can give you a huge advantage while fighting hordes.
Best Ogryn Build Weapons
Of course, no build guide can be complete without mentioning the weapons. Warhammer 40K Darktide features a ton of weapons, and while many of those weapons should work perfectly fine with this build. We will recommend these specific weapons.
Primary Weapon – Endymion Mk II Battle Maul & Stab Shield

Aside from acting as a shield, it is also a high-powered melee weapon that is great at crowd control and can push your enemies away with ease.
Secondary Weapon – Foe Rend Mk II Ripper Gun

This weapon can kill a ton of enemies, including elites, with great ease thanks to its heavy-hitting shells. It can also knock down enemies, so we’d consider this ranged weapon to be perfect for this build.
How To Play As Ogryn In Warhammer 40K Darktide
Now that you know about the abilities, the best feats, and the best weapons. The only thing that remains is to know about to utilize all these abilities offered by the Ogryn and which playstyle you should adopt while using this character.
In these Warhammer 40K Darktide Ogryn builds, we have put much emphasis on the Bull Rush, and the Bleed Stacks, as both of these, are the backbones for your survival. You should be trying your best to get enemies as close to each other as possible and then performing the Bull Rush to put Bleed Stacks on as many enemies as possible at a time.
Aside from the Bull Rush, you should be using heavy attacks most of the time, thanks to your feats, you will be able to inflict Bleed Stacks through heavy attacks as well.
Try your best to block ranged attacks with the help of your shield, keep hitting enemies with Bull Rush and heavy attacks, and before you know it, you will’ve already won the battle.
