KING Art Confirms The New Date

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is no longer launching in September. Developer KING Art Games and publisher Deep Silver confirmed the delay in a YouTube video update, moving the RTS from its original September 17 release date to December 3, 2026. Commander Edition owners keep their three-day early access window, which now begins November 30 instead of the original date.
Game director Jan Theysen delivered the news directly in the video.
“We’ve made the decision to move the launch to December 3rd,” he said. “Like many of you, we were looking forward to playing the game in September, but we really believe this is the right decision, and the additional time will be worth it.”
He pointed to feedback from multiple community playtests as the driving factor, framing the extra months as time to act on that feedback rather than a response to any single major problem, with the additional development window going toward performance optimization, bug fixing, and further gameplay polish.
The shift also pulls Dawn of War IV out of an unusually packed September, which was set to include Control Resonant, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Silent Hill: Townfall, giving it a clearer run-up to launch and a spot in the middle of the holiday shopping season instead.
What Players Can Expect

Dawn of War IV returns players to the planet Kronus, where the Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and Adeptus Mechanicus fight for control, backed by classic base building, resource management, and large-scale battles, alongside multiplayer ranging from 1v1 to 3v3 and the return of the fan-favorite Last Stand mode. The game remains PC-only via Steam at launch, and KING Art has released an updated Year One roadmap of free post-launch content to match the new date.
Dawn of War IV has plenty to prove after the divisive reception surrounding Dawn of War III, and this delay suggests KING Art would rather take the extra months than risk repeating that outcome.
