Ada has always been a mystique in the Resident Evil franchise, and I’m glad that we get to see more of this enigmatic personality in her very own DLC expansion called Separate Ways. During the recent State of Play event by PlayStation, two new DLCs for the Resident Evil 4 remake have been announced—one’s painted in VR colors, while the other shows Ada’s side of the story in the game.
A concrete release date of September 21 has been given for the Separate Ways DLC, which is later this month, but for the Resident Evil 4 VR mode, a launch is expected sometime in the winters. It’s worth noting that the VR iteration of the Resident Evil 4 remake isn’t anything new—a teaser trailer was already pushed out for it in May as something you could enjoy with your PS VR2.
The revealed footage also informs of a free update for the game’s Mercenaries mode on the day Separate Ways comes out. The patch will seemingly add two new characters to the minigame, where you constantly go up against hordes of baddies in a time-sensitive setting. Best check out The Mercenaries if you haven’t already to get some practice in before Ada Wong and Wesker come shooting in as well.
To talk about Ada’s spin on the remake, fans saw this one coming for some time now. There have been signs up along the way too, such as mysterious new achievements popping up on Steam a while ago, hinting at a new DLC for the third-person shooter title. Besides, it’s something that the devs couldn’t really miss out on, given the acclaim for it back in the glory days of the original Resident Evil 4 (2005).
The gist of the Separate Ways DLC is that it lets you play from Ada Wong’s perspective and unravel the heroic efforts of Leon in a different light. You get to note down Ada’s motives for going after Leon and saving him numerous times during the game. Playing as Ada is truly fun as well, and given how Capcom revitalized this iteration of the RE franchise, there’s no doubt they’ll be doing the same with the DLC.
In other news, Resident Evil 4 has done well in terms of sales throughout its release. Back in July, it was reported that the game had sold 5 million copies—it’s probably fairly more by now. In addition, players have truly dug into the title to figure out certain secrets on their own, such as how 80% of Ashley’s section in the game can be skipped and a particular boss in-game can be fried open with just a golden egg.
Lastly, the situation happens to be fortuitous at the moment. You can grab the well-received Resident Evil 4 remake on Best Buy and Amazon for a discounted price right now. As opposed to its $59.99 MSRP, the promo takes $20 off that pricing to reduce it to a cool $39 for both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Best act quickly—the deals stay for a limited time.
The Resident Evil 4 remake has been out since March 23, 2023, for a myriad of platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, with no port for the Xbox One, sadly.
