Bloober Team’s CEO, Piotr Babieno, said in an interview with news channel Inwestorzy.tv that Konami’s latest combat trailer for Silent Hill 2, which had been receiving mixed reception, doesn’t reflect the “spirit” of the game. The interview video appears to have been taken down and is no longer available on YouTube, as reported by VGC. However, Eurogamer Poland was able to transcribe the CEO’s statements.
Piotr Babieno joked during the interview, “I wrote these negative comments myself.” “Quite seriously, we are not responsible for the game’s marketing,” Babieno added. While referring to Silent Hill 2’s publisher, Konami, Babieno clarified: “Our partner is entirely responsible for this. The trailer certainly does not reflect the spirit of the game.”
This is neither the spirit of what once was nor what we are creating now. We are trying to fully reflect this vision of the game that made its debut 22 years ago. We think that when players see the real gameplay, a real game, they will evaluate it in a completely different way.” the CEO said.
Konami’s latest trailer for Silent Hill 2 dropped two weeks ago, and most comments on the YouTube video were negative, making it quite clear that releasing a combat trailer for a game popular for its psychological approach was counterproductive. Regardless, it appears that the game’s official release isn’t too far away from now, as it is in its final stages of development.
