Diablo 4 Gets Criticized For Low Inventory Space And Server Issues At Launch

The status of the servers will improve as future patches arrive.

Story Highlights

  • Diablo 4 fans have criticized the game for low inventory space and server issues at launch. The gems take up a lot of space in the inventory, becoming a real issue for many players.
  • Many users have agreed that the gems should have a separate tab like elixirs, with some calling out Blizzard Entertainment for not adding it already before the early access release.
  • The team is fixing the queue issues and other server-related bugs. A recent hotfix has also tackled many server-related issues while increasing enemies’ health points for later world tiers.
  • Diablo 4 releases on June 6 globally for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

Diablo 4 has only recently opened up for the players eligible for early access, and many are enjoying the rather smooth release in contrast to Blizzard’s past Diablo entries. However, the game is still plagued with login and queues-related issues, alongside the small inventory space causing many fans to request devs for possible fixes. It seems like the limited inventory space could become a real issue for many players.

Apparently, most of the inventory space is occupied by gems for many players. The Reddit user AndrewWOz posted the predicament in the official Diablo 4 subreddit, with many joining the conversation with an affirmative tone. As per the experience of the commentators, half or more of the inventory space is hogged by the gems alone, causing management difficulties and hindering the otherwise enjoyable action RPG venture.

Please Blizzard [I’m] at level 23 and I’m so sick of gems taking up half my inventory slots. It’s literally the only thing I’d change right now, everything else is awesome,” Andrew pleads for a solution.

Andrew notes that using the stash proves to be quite inconvenient due to many reasons since the dungeon is prone to getting reset. Warping back from the mid-dungeon can be risky because there is a chance the place could reset when you revisit it. Moreover, it is tiresome to resort to using the stash over gems flooding the inventory after every few minutes. Thus, the players have come up with a proposed fix for the impediment.

Agreed. Wouldn’t be so bad if gems didn’t take up so much room in the tiny inventory space we’re given. They have a stash for consumables why can’t there be one for gems,” concurs Diablo 4 player lli666ill.

Diablo 4 already features a separate tab for elixirs and quest items, and it would be a huge quality-of-life fix for the devs to add a separate area for the gems. The proposed fix would clear up most of the inventory space for other essential items, preventing users to dump out important goodies to make space for the gems. The fans hope Blizzard Entertainment steps in to add the underlying change before the game’s official release.

Many users have called out Blizzard in the comments for not including the change in the recent version despite the initial complaints. The devs have not yet officially addressed the concerns of the worried players. Diablo 4 servers are relatively smooth for such a major release, but many gamers have still faced queueing and other server-related impediments. Some of these bugs were tackled in the official 1.0.2 hotfix released a few hours ago.

Unable to Find License?!

Moreover, Blizzard is already investigating the license issues that have deterred some users from playing the game. So, the team may also tackle the inventory space issue in one of the upcoming updates. Diablo 4 has received critical reception from longtime and new fans upon launch for early-access players. It is expected to roll over a huge number of copies since pre-sales have proven to be quite “strong,” as per Blizzard’s financial reports.

The entry has been praised for returning to its dark roots while also focusing on enhancing the combat and gameplay mechanics. Nevertheless, it has received disdain from fans for inconsistent difficulty at times, unappealing lore, and predatory microtransactions, which thankfully only add cosmetics. Diablo 4 is slated for a global release on June 6 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
