EA Is Allegedly Gearing Up To End Support For Wild Hearts

A grain of salt approach is advised.

Story Highlights

  • A moderator from Wild Heart’s discord server has claimed that EA is reportedly planning to end support for the game.
  • An official announcement is expected in the near future.

According to a new leak, Electronic Arts is allegedly preparing to pull the plug on Wild Hearts after a mere seven months. The information comes from u/BeardyShaman who shared the details in a post on the game’s subreddit to “lessen the blow before the official announcement.” BeardyShaman gave a disclaimer stating, “Some of you here who are in the discord will know who I am as a mod, and others will not know who I am wondering probably who my sources are, but yes the obvious is obvious.

Just coming here to lessen the blow before the announcement is official made

It seems that EA’s main goal with Wild Hearts was to turn it into a multi-million dollar hit and compete with Monster Hunter. Unfortunately, this goal wasn’t achieved and in typical EA fashion, the company is reportedly gearing up to end support and move on from the game. As is the case with most things, they require time, investment, and effort to reach great heights, something players believe that EA is incapable of giving.

Given that Wild Hearts doesn’t require an internet connection and can be played offline in a solo adventure, the end of support would have a rather limited effect. While you will be able to play the game, content updates, patches, and DLC will be out of the picture, marking the end of its lifecycle.

Wild Hearts launched earlier this year to a positive reception despite being plagued with abysmal performance issues. While the problems persisted on all platforms, it was especially worse on PC, giving it a “mostly negative” rating on Steam. In time, this went up to “mixed” but many players claim that the game is still far from optimized.

Even with all of its issues, it was far from being considered a failure. Having a decent rating on Metacritic, reviews praised the mechanics and systems the game brought to the table. However, it appears that EA had greater expectations. As BeardyShaman claims that an official announcement is on the way, we would advise you to take this report with a grain of salt until then.

Wild Hearts is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
