Final Fantasy Creator Claims He Greatly Enjoyed Playing Ghost Of Tsushima

He said the game was quite authentic to the real place.

Story Highlights

  • The Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has recently claimed to enjoy Ghost of Tsushima greatly.
  • The dev praised the non-Japanese team behind the game for keeping its setting authentic to real life.
  • Many notable Japanese devs and figures have previously hailed the game for setting huge milestones in the genre.

The Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi recently appeared in an interview at Radiko Japan and discussed a variety of RPGs with some other prominent figures. Amidst the jolly discussion, Hironobu mentioned that he had a great time experiencing the allure of Ghost of Tsushima and enjoyed it profoundly. As initially spotted by Genki on Twitter, the dev said it was a well-made title that felt authentic to the real setting it was inspired from.

He glorified the team for not deviating from the culture of the time while exploring a gruesome yet gratifying story. As a result, you can expect to find a myriad of real-life locations while dealing with the Mongol invasion. Another Japanese developer and a renowned legend in the industry, Shinji Mikami, also praised the RPG when he played back in May 2023 this year. Similarly, a slew of other Japanese devs have been pleased with the game.

Even the dev behind Tenchu and Kamiwaza, Takuma Endo, went as far as to declare that Ghost of Tsushima made Japanese history a separate genre in gaming. These praises hold great significance because the entry was in a bit of controversy before launch. Many in the gaming industry assumed that a non-Japanese team would not be able to catch a perfect Japanese setting. Sucker Punch was quick to prove the world wrong.
