Gangs Of Sherwood Gets Another Free Demo On Steam

Gangs of Sherwood tells the tale of Robin Hood and his companions in its own mystical fashion, offering an RPG experience with engaging combat, and a compelling story campaign. If you’d rather get a taste of the game first before diving into the purchase, the devs have announced a free Steam demo for Gangs of Sherwood, playable until November 27, because that’s when the title’s early access period kicks off.

In other news, the Robin Hood-centric action-adventure title was supposed to release on November 2, but suffered a delay because of the feedback received from Gangs of Sherwood’s Steam Next Fest demo. The devs decided to take additional time and invest it into polishing the RPG for a launch that can be as optimal as possible. 

This additional time will be used to fine-tune certain aspects and incorporate some improvements requested by the community, giving Robin and his merry men the chance to step up their preparations for their confrontation with the armies of the Sheriff of Nottingham!”

For those not in the know, Gangs of Sherwood is based on Robin Hood and revolves around the heroic outlaw’s baseline story. Throughout different iterations of the character in literature, Robin is seen forming a band of like-minded individuals, called the Merry Men, comprising a number of notable people to aid him in his mission of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. 

A little over two weeks ago, the devs released an explosive gameplay overview trailer for Gangs of Sherwood, showcasing the playable characters at length and going over the customization potential of each. Up to 4 people can play through the game at once using online co-op, though we’re not sure at this point if the title supports any form of split-screen multiplayer. 

As for the premise involved, Gangs of Sherwood sees Robin Hood and his mates taking on the Sherrif of Nottingham, a corrupt law enforcer who has oppressed England’s downtrodden. You, as the player, will go through various in-game environments, loaded to the brim with hordes of foes, in an attempt to lay waste to Sherrif’s malicious plans. 

Gangs of Sherwood will release on November 30, 2023, for all players globally. Those who pre-order the Lionheart Edition — costing $35.99 until release — will, however, be able to dive into Nottingham 72 hours early, not to mention the receival of a number of other bonuses that are part of the upgraded variant of the game, including multiple skin sets, digital soundtrack, and digital artbook.
