The PlayStation 5 version of the racing game will gain PS VR2 support via patch 1.29. It will be completely free for players and will allow them to experience Gran Turismo 7 through the PS VR2 lens. According to the press release, this update comes out on February 21, one day before the headset comes out.
People have had a lot to say about Sony‘s upcoming VR headset, PS VR2. From Bloomberg reporting about disappointing pre-orders to a former Oculus CTO predicting its failure, there have been many doubts regarding the console. But, one thing most critics agree on is the amazing specs this headset boasts.
Devs from Pavolv, which is a popular VR FPS title, said that the game ran faster on the PS VR2 than a PC VR setup powered by 3090 Ti. John Carmack also praised this aspect of the headset and how it upgrades on other VR headsets. Besides its powerful build, the headset also has a lineup filled with major AAA games.
PS VR2 will have games from some big franchises on launch day, including Resident Evil Village and Horizon Call of the Mountain. Add titles like Hello Neighbour and The Dark Pictures: Switchback to this and you’ll understand why players are excited. Probably the most anticipated release on PS VR2 among all of these big names is Gran Turismo 7.
Like Gran Turismo Sport, the 2022 racing game is going to be available for PS VR2 players on day one. Developers Polyphony Digital have now announced an update that will bring the VR experience to Gran Turismo 7. Moreover, this upgrade will be available to download at no extra cost.
Only the PlayStation 5 version of the racing simulator is getting this patch, which isn’t a surprise. Through patch 1.29, all the races and game modes will be present in the VR version. However, this does not include the 2P Split Screen mode, which is excluded from the VR patch.
A special VR Showroom area will be available in Gran Turismo 7 only for PS VR2 users. You can go to the Garage or any car dealership in the game and access this exclusive area. Via this feature, players can view UHD car models in remarkable detail and with different lighting settings.
Vehicles can be viewed from many different angles and there are several backgrounds players can select. So, you can look at your favorite cars any way you like.
Furthermore, Gran Turismo 7 makes use of the capability of PS VR2 to give us some stunning gameplay. According to the patch notes, it uses the foveated rendering tech from the eye-tracking feature to make the area of the screen players are directly looking at HD. Dynamic 3D audio and HDR tone mapping will also allow fans to play the game in a whole new way.
Players only have to wait one more week to get patch 1.29. It will be at the disposal of Gran Turismo 7 owners on February 21, 2023. That is one day before PS VR2 officially launches around the world on February 22.
Hence, all users will be able to experience the racing simulator in immersed reality on day one. Are you going to buy the PS VR2 for Gran Turismo 7? Tell us in the comments below.
