Granblue Fantasy: Relink Demo Has Over 600,000 Downloads On PlayStation

The demo of Granblue Fantasy: Relink has now surpassed 600,000 downloads on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 according to an official post on X. Available for free, this playable demo for the upcoming action RPG launched on January 11, 2024, exclusively for the PlayStation. Hence, in just 2 weeks more than half a million people have tried the Cygames title.

Set in the same realm as the original Granblue Fantasy, Relink was first announced back in 2016 as a collaboration between PlatinumGames and Cygames. The latter became the sole developer of the project in 2019 after PlatinumGames ended their involvement for some reason.

As first unveiled by a gameplay showcase back in 2017, Granblue Fantasy: Relink will feature four-person co-operative multiplayer or a single-player playthrough with AI characters supporting you. In addition, the RPG will also feature characters from the 2014 title even though it takes place in a different location in the realm.

During its development, Granblue Fantasy: Relink was delayed multiple times. Initially, the RPG was set to launch worldwide in 2018, but this was moved to 2022 after PlatinumGames dropped out of the project. But, Cygames wasn’t able to meet this release date either and once again pushed the game back, this time to 2023, which we all know didn’t happen. 

Cygames did however publish the new 2.5D fighting game in the series, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising in December 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam. It was a sequel to the 2020 original and featured new characters, graphics, stages, and storyline in addition to previous content returning.

Now, Granblue Fantasy: Relink will launch on February 1, 2024, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC, taking a different approach from the original which only came out on mobile devices and browsers. You can still download the game’s demo and play it for free on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
