Taking to Xbox Wire — the official news portal of all things Xbox — Ninja Theory’s Studio Head Dom Matthews details the journey so far in crafting the sequel to Hellblade right from the ground up, while also confirming that the Hellblade 2 will be a digital-only release with no physical edition available. The game is set to be priced at $49.99, featuring a length “similar” to the first game, whose main story takes around 7 and a half hours to finish, as per HowLongToBeat.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be a game crafted from the heart – a game similar in length to the first Hellblade, with a focused narrative, and sold digital-only at a price of $49.99 USD. And you can once again expect to join Senua in understanding her world through perception puzzles led by her experiences of psychosis, in brutal and visceral combat and in traversal gameplay, this time across the harsh but beautiful landscapes of 10th Century Iceland. Crucially, all these elements are intertwined in a unique visual and audio experience, where everything is in service of Senua’s story,” says Dom Matthews.

On a side note, though, if you haven’t tried out the first Hellblade before, now could be the perfect time to get right into doing that. The game has been discounted massively on both Xbox and Steam, where you can get it for $2.99 and somewhere around $1 respectively at the time of writing. The opportunity is fantastic, especially if you’re looking forward to the sequel and you want to witness first-hand how far Senua has come battling her mental illness.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was released on August 8, 2017, for PC and PlayStation 4. In the years that ensued after, the game received ports to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, not to mention a next-gen patch that brought the title up to speed on the Xbox Series X|S. The sequel, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, traces its first announcement back to The Game Awards 2019.
