Starfield Players Spent 40 Hours On Average In The Game

The Bethesda title also surpassed 13 million players in its year-end update.

Story Highlights

  • According to Bethesda, players spent 40 hours on average in Starfield.
  • The game has surpassed 13 million players and its first expansion is releasing next year.
  • The developer is planning updates every six weeks for the title in 2024 with new features and content.

In its end-of-the-year update for Starfield, Bethesda revealed that 40 hours was the average time each user spent playing the RPG in its first three months. The statistical graphic also stated that the Xbox exclusive has amassed over 13 million players as of now, making the average playtime even more impressive.

Even though this average is less compared to other Bethesda RPGs like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which had a 75-hour playtime on PC, the number is still solid when you consider how Starfield launched on Xbox Game Pass. The game was free for anyone to download on the subscription without any compulsion to spend even a minute in the RPG. Hence, it’s easy to see why a game like Skyrim, which players actively bought, is clocking higher.

Other statistics in the infographic show how users played Starfield for 22.2 million days and visited a whopping 1.9 billion planets in the universe. In addition, Ecliptic was the most dangerous faction, causing 12.2 million deaths in the RPG while Ashta was an exceedingly vicious lifeform, leading to 1.7 million deaths.

Players also took full advantage of the powers and weapons with the Combatech Beowulf being the most trusted weapon, amassing 595 million kills, and the Sense Star Stuff power getting used in bulk by users. Moreover, Bethesda gave fans a glimpse of what’s coming in 2024 via the year-end update. Per the blog, the developer is targeting a new update every six weeks for Starfield, including quality-of-life improvements and other features.

The developer is also adding a lot of new features based on player feedback, including new ways to travel, map access in major cities, and expansive Ship Building with new decorations, options, and much more. In addition, new gameplay options, that will allow you to alter gameplay difficulty and customize factors like carry capacity, ship damage, vendor credits, and survival mechanics, are coming to Starfield next year.
