- It’s been confirmed that Helldivers 2 has a dedicated “Game Master” with a strict role to play.
Helldivers 2 is the new global sensation that everyone is talking about right now, and there’s no surprise why. Out of everything else that Arrowhead is doing to make the experience better for everyone, it seems the studio is going above and beyond to keep the gameplay fresh moving forward, with CEO Johan Pilestedt confirming the presence of a dedicated “Game Master” for evolving the title.
We have an actual person with the job title of Game Master. His name is Joel, and he takes his job very seriously,” expressed Johan in an interview with PC Gamer.
Apparently, Joel has been getting up in the dead of the night to make immediate fixes to any aspect of Helldivers 2’s gameplay whenever an issue popped up, such as one planet either becoming too easy or too hard to liberate. That’s dedication right there; I have to hand it to this Joel guy, honestly.
We have a lot of systems built into the game where the Game Master has a lot of control over the play experience. It’s something that we’re continuously evolving based on what’s happening in the game. And as part of the roadmap, there are things that we want to keep secret because we want to surprise and delight,” Johan explained futher.
Helldivers 2 continues to make waves across the industry, with the developers having to upgrade the server capacity to 800,000 users recently to accommodate all those trying to get into the game. On a side note, the title has also sold way over a million units, blowing right past the expectations of the publisher, and for good reason.
