New Helldivers 2 Leak Reveals First Look At Mechs And Other Vehicles

A new leaked video from an apparent programmer working on the title has given fans the first sneak peek at the upcoming mech suits and recon vehicles in Helldivers 2. YouTube channel GameOverDeo uploaded a video that displayed the upcoming Exo 44 and Exo 48 mech armors in addition to the recon vehicles that players can drive around in the game.

The raw gameplay video features unfinished gameplay from the upcoming mech armors patch but gives us some important info about the features of this update. The Exo 44 suit has the minigun and the missile launcher, with up to 14 available slots in the machine. On the other hand, the Exo 48 suit with a double autocannon mounted on top of it making it different from the Exo 44 suit in Helldivers 2.

The recon vehicle is basically a buggy which has a machine gun mounted on top of it. In the leaked video, the gameplay surrounding the vehicle is unfinished with wonky UI and weird collision physics. However, the small sneak peek gives us a pretty good look at how the recon buggy will function in Helldivers 2. You can run over small bugs with the vehicle but not your teammates, but this might not be the finalized collision physics according to the YouTuber.

Since its launch last month, Helldivers 2 has been the biggest phenomenon in the gaming world. The third-person shooter title from Arrowhead Games has broken record after record, becoming the biggest PlayStation Studios game on PC. It peaked at 458,000 players on Steam, a number higher than the likes of Elden Ring and Destiny 2, and has also sold over 3 million copies worldwide.

Due to excessive player counts, Arrowhead has increased the title’s server capacity to a massive 800,000 concurrent players, but it still might not be enough. Helldivers 2 launched for the PlayStation 5 and PC on February 8, 2024.
