Helldivers 2 Dev Rolls Back Recent PC Patch; New PS5 Update Out

Arrowhead is currently hard at work, trying to fix the currently persisting issues with the game.

Story Highlights

  • Helldivers 2, a new third-person shooter by Arrowhead Game Studios, is suffering from launch issues.
  • The developer released an update on PC for the game recently, but that has been pulled back now.
  • The reason cited is severe performance degradation following the onset of the latest Helldivers 2 update.

Helldivers 2 came out a bunch of days ago, releasing to a fairly positive reception, save for complaints that seemingly call out some of its launch issues and other technical bugs that plague player experience to a reasonable extent. A recent patch rolled out by Arrowhead for its PC variant intended to make much-needed changes to the game, but has since been rolled back because it ended up doing more harm than good.

Patch Notes for the Recent Helldivers 2 Patch That Misfired for PC Players

That’s according to the game’s producer Alex Bolle, who recently took to Discord to address the playing community of Helldivers 2. The patch although attempting to increase server capacity so more users can enjoy the third-person shooter at the same time, instead afflicted the performance of some players across the board, making it impossible to boot the game up.

Update on the patch: We have rolled back the patch due to some users experiencing significant degradation in performance. The mission reward fix will not be affected by this.”

Arrowhead is currently at work, trying to investigate what went work with the patch in the first place. However, the PlayStation 5 version of Helldivers 2 has received the update at hand, and evidently, it’s running quite smoothly as compared to its PC counterpart. A new post on the game’s Discord server revealed the latter to the full.

We have rolled out a patch for PS5 that primarily addresses server capacity, login capacity progression and mission rewards, same as the PC patch from yesterday. We do not anticipate that there will be performance problems with the patch for PS5. We are currently investigating that issue with the PC build from yesterday.”

On a side note, Helldivers 2 took almost 8 years to develop, and development on the project began shortly after the release of the first game. As such, Arrowhead’s efforts have bore fruit, as the shooter has already clocked about a million sales, and is “blowing through estimates” for the publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).

Helldivers 2 was released on February 8, 2024, for the PlayStation 5 and PC.
