Players Say Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Physical Copies Aren’t Installing

Many players around the globe have reported this unfixable error in the Insomniac title.

Due to a weird error in the game’s physical disc, the installation of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is stopping at exactly 36% on the PlayStation 5. So far, many players have reported this issue on Reddit and have told the same tale of the PS5 drive failing to recognize the disc and showing an error when the download reaches 36%. Even though many have tried, no solution has been found yet but you don’t need to worry as an official patch is on the way.

As per a user on the ResetEra forum, Sony and Insomniac are aware of this issue in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and are trying to fix it as we speak. Ranxious took to the forum to report that his local video game store informed him a patch would be deployed over the weekend to deal with this issue. Do keep in mind, however, that we have no idea how much truth there is to this statement.

Sony hasn’t made an official statement about this problem yet but it is highly probable a patch will be released to fix it because apparently, nothing else is working. Fans on Reddit have tried dozens of workarounds which include reinstalling Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, exchanging the disc, trying to install the title on another PlayStation 5, and even downloading the superhero title offline.

But, so far, the error has persisted, and it seems like only the developer will have the permanent fix to this Spider-Man 2 error. Surprisingly, users who bought the game haven’t encountered this error and their experience has been very smooth so far. Hence, only physical copies are facing this issue, which isn’t good for an already declining facet of gaming.

Despite this grave problem, Spider-Man 2 has hit the ground running among the fans, becoming a critical darling in the gaming community. The Insomniac title has received universal praise from critics, with its story, combat, visuals, and gameplay getting special praise. In addition, many are already calling it a potential Game of the Year winner, with a 91 rating on Metacritic backing this notion.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released on October 20, 2023, for the PlayStation 5.
