Marvel’s Wolverine: New Leak Reveals Skill Tree & “Ghost Health” Details

The health system is similar to the recovery in Bloodborne.

Story Highlights

  • A new leak for Marvel’s Wolverine reveals details for its Skill Tree and Health Regen systems.
  • The skill map shows a total of 34 abilities; the Ghost Health system shares similarities to Bloodborne.
  • Other information from the leak shows damage and screenshots of in-development gameplay.

More leaked data for Marvel’s Wolverine from the recent ransomware attack on Insomniac Games has revealed its Skill Tree and Ghost Health systems. As reflected in the image, the skill menu is still a work in progress and only shows the layout of its foundation. What we can take away from it is that the game will feature four paths—Predator, Claws, Mutant, and Fists.

Additionally, the image shows that abilities acquired from the skill tree will have upgradeable tiers, with stronger versions being unlocked when the respective ability is used in combat for a certain period. The total number of acquirable skills shown in this alpha version is 34, which is subject to change once the game arrives on PlayStation 5.

Aside from the ability map, the leak also gives some information on the health system of Marvel’s Wolverine. The game will include a Ghost Health mechanic with several similarities to FromSoftware’s Bloodborne. As per the details, the regenerative factor promotes aggressive gameplay.

Logan can regain lost health for a certain period after being attacked. Landing more attacks during this window will increase the healing rate. The visual indicator for lost health points and the ability to regain it via attacking were elements found in Bloodborne. What sets this game apart, however, is the recovery speed being tied to attacks per second.

The leak includes images of other elements of Marvel’s Wolverine as well including screenshots of the game, presumably from the current build, an image of Logan’s model, and a representation of how damage will affect the hero’s body. Going by the leak, it appears that parts of the body’s skeleton and organs will be exposed when taking heavy damage before the healing factor kicks in.

Insomniac Games suffered a heavy data breach in light of the ransomware attack, something that poses a serious threat to the studio. A significant amount of information leaks, financial records, project timelines, and sales data were made available on the net. As the team implements damage control measures to recover from this attack, we advise you to take these leaks with a grain of salt as all of it is subject to change.

Marvel’s Wolverine is being developed exclusively for PlayStation 5. No release date has been announced at the moment.
