Story Highlights
- NBA 2K24 belongs to the mega-popular NBA 2K franchise that spans over two dozen of these basketball simulators.
- The latest entry in the franchise is about to hit shelves on September 8 for not just PC and the current-gen slate of consoles of Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, but will also include PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
- From what we can tell so far, NBA 2K24 is the biggest NBA 2K title yet, featuring a swath of upgrades, the new ProPLAY technology, and a Mamba Moments mode that commemorates the late Kobe Bryant.
- In a new update, it’s been revealed that NBA 2K24 will also feature a certain involvement of popular personalities Mark Cuban and Quavo in the MyCareer mode of the game, which is essentially its very own story mode.
NBA 2K frontman Ronnie 2K recently tweeted a video, confirming the involvement of Mark Cuban and Quavo in the forthcoming NBA 2K24. Both Mark and Quavo are famous personalities and moguls of their respective industries. The video footage confirms that the duo will play a part in the game’s MyCareer mode, which is where you create your own character and propel them to success.

The involvement of popular rappers, such as Quavo, in the story mode of NBA 2K games is something that the series is no stranger to. For instance, NBA 2K23’s MyCareer featured J.Cole as someone who you could rap battle with, whereas Jack Harlow, Lil Wayne, and Lil Durk turned out to be playable characters. There’s a ton of diversity involved here, and fans show interest in playing with real-life people in the game.
The role of Mark Cuban, though, who happens to be an American business tycoon and the owner of the Dallas Mavericks—a major professional team in the NBA—is currently not that clear. In the video uploaded by NBA 2K’s official YouTube channel, he seems to be hyping up the protagonist of the MyCareer mode, who is commonly referred to as “MP.”
In other news, prices for the Virtual Currency, which happens to be the in-game currency of the NBA 2K games, have been revealed as well in recent times. The minimum amount of VC that you can buy inside the title’s store is 5,000, which is priced at $2. The highest, on the other hand, is 700,000 VC, which will set users back about $150. VC is utilized for an array of stuff, such as player equipment and attributes.

Moreover, NBA 2K24’s official soundtrack was leaked online as of late, showcasing all the artists and their respective tracks that would be making it into the game. The official NBA 2K Spotify account evidently acted too soon and uploaded the entire playlist, only to realize its mistake and delete it moments after. Some eagle-eyed fans captured it, though, and went ahead to document it.
Moreover, we’re currently living in an age of exorbitant file sizes of video games, and NBA 2K24 is going to be no exception to this trend. As per a new report, the upcoming basketball sim is going to take 161 GB of space, at least on the Xbox Series X|S. Combine that with the day-one patches and updates that would be rolled out on the title’s release, and you can look forward to that size crossing 200 GB by the end of 2023.
Lastly, NBA 2K24 brings the heat with foundational changes to its MyTeam mechanic. A deluge of improvements has been made to the core features of the title this time around, sporting a refined progression system, a salary cap mode, a new Season Pass system, and, of course, crossplay functionality that would bring gamers from different platforms together for the first time in the franchise’s history.
NBA 2K24 launches soon on September 8 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
