In a video game event, G-Star, 2023, Yosuke Saito, the producer of the NieR franchise, supposedly confirms plans for a new entry in the future. He states that the NieR franchise will continue to get more entries as long as Yoko Taro is alive. @Genki_JPN, a prominent X account who shares Japanese Video Game insights, translated the findings of Yosuke Saito’s interview at G-Star.

During G-Star, 2023. Producer Yosuke Saito and Director Yoko Taro took part in the lecture titled “A meeting to talk incessantly about the production of ‘NieR Automata.” At the end of the lecture, Saito assures fans that a new entry is in the works. However, it cannot be released anytime soon as he and Yoko are busy with another project which they might talk about next year.

The mystery title to be supposedly announced next year is yet unknown; however, as Saito stated, a new title is not due soon; it can be assumed that it may take a couple more years till we see a new NieR project out in public. No further details regarding the title and its release are shared as a few circumstances prevent them from delving into more information.

NieR: Automata was released on 23rd February 2023; it sold 7 million units, becoming a successful open-world RPG game. During the lecture, Saito said that replicating its success is a difficult feat, while Yoko Taro deemed it impossible. In eXputer’s review, we rated the title a solid 4.5 out of 5.
