Project 007 & Project Dragon To Not Release Before March 2025

The latest annual report 2021/22 for the year ending 31st March 2022 seems to imply so.

IO Interactive has certainly contributed to the stealth genre of video games by introducing an alluring franchise like the famous Hitman series. The studio is well-renowned for releasing among the best stealth-based titles and has released an array of successful installments in the respective IPs. Hitman is arguably the most prominent of them all.

Some of the other popular franchises include Freedom Fighters and Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. IO Interactive’s last game was Hitman 3, released in January 2021, which became a worldwide success. The studio has appeared to be dormant since then. However, well-established rumors have whirred around the community, stating that the studio is crafting multiple titles, codenamed Project 007 and Project Dragon.

Both these titles are shrouded in secrecy, and not a lot is known about them. However, we now know that Project 007 & Project Dragon will not release before 3 years. This info comes from the recent annual report 2021/22 for the year ending 31st March 2022, where the team discusses the suspected drought in profits from the next financial year. The info from the annual report was revealed by the insider, @DarkDetectiveNL.

The profits will be significantly down for the next two financial years due to the long production of upcoming games. This information indicates that both the upcoming games, Project 007 & Project Dragon, will not be released at least before April 2025. It is not a surprise at all, as the games have not been formally announced yet, and the community is only familiar with the codenames.

The annual report also discusses the profits made in the last financial year. IO Interactive has labeled the profits as satisfactory and more than anticipated. The profits are largely due to the Xbox Game Pass deal. Moreover, the studio is also looking into mobile development and to expand its roots.

If you are unfamiliar, Project 007 is an upcoming game based on James Bond, and it seems to be in the early stages of development. The fans have been seeking a good stealth-based title based on the James Bond character, and IO Interactive is well-known for crafting such games.

Project 007 is looking to quench the thirst of gamers craving for a good James Bond game, and it might just bring a new era of stealthy spy games. Project Dragon, on the other hand, is based on entirely different genres. It is a new dragon-themed fantasy RPG that is in the very primitive stages of development.

Project Dragon is will be a AAA role-playing game with “an ambitious connected world.” As the name suggests, the lore is based around dragons ruling a large medieval MMORPG world. The game will supposedly receive updates and content for 10 years.

What are your thoughts regarding both the upcoming games taking at least 3 years before an official release? Do let us know your opinions in the comments below.
