Looks Like There’s Bad News For Red Dead Redemption’s PC Port After All

The Red Dead Redemption PC port may not launch anytime soon. Despite rampant rumors, the prominent Rockstar insider and dataminer, Tez2, has claimed on GTAForums that the awaited PC version still appears to be at least a couple of months away. The new strings brought earlier to the Rockstar launcher were likely added ahead of time, which suggests that work on the PC release is still underway to some degree.  

For those unfamiliar, Tez2 was behind the original RDR1 datamine finding two weeks ago, which suggested that Rockstar was gearing up to release it on PC. However, analyzing the strings has revealed that Rockstar likely added them to the dev build instead of the public one for now.

Fans Have Been Waited For The Red Dead Redemption PC Port For Over A Decade 

Rockstar’s chef-d’oeuvre came out 14 years ago, but rumors of a PC port have persisted for a long time. It is unclear why the studio decided to skip PC over all these years. However, the recent datamining by Tez2 has proven to be the most solid evidence for its existence that we have seen so far. The devs have certainly not forgotten the game, as they launched a remastered version for Switch and modern consoles last year.

All in all, it is best to take these insights with a pinch of salt. Rockstar Games has neither confirmed nor denied the existence of a RDR1 PC port at the moment. Fans suspect that it could be announced before the next earnings call, sometime in August later this year.
