Resident Evil 4 Remake Leaks Out In The Wild; Copies Released Early In Stores

Steer clear of spoilers.

Story Highlights

  • The Resident Evil 4 remake is a 2023 first-person shooter derived from the masterclass of the original Resident Evil 4 that initially came out in 2005 for Nintendo GameCube.
  • The brand-spanking-new remake has been planned to release on March 24, but it appears as if some individuals have managed to grab a copy of the game ahead of time.
  • In doing so, leaks and spoilers of the much-anticipated title are dropping left and right on popular video game forums, including gameplay sequences of the game’s important bits and other clips from the remake’s overall story.
  • Steer clear and beware of the lurking Resident Evil 4 remake leaks if you intend on experiencing the game by yourself wholly.

As is almost customary with most major new releases now, Resident Evil 4, too, has been subject to getting itself out there on the internet ahead of its March 24 launch date. People are found playing the game and uploading its clips to platforms such as TikTok. Moreover, an image has surfaced on ResetEra that showcases physical units of the remake getting thrown out in the world.

Presumably, a store has received copies of Resident Evil 4 early, but we can’t say if multiple individuals have access to the remake yet. We’ve only found eternalchamp86 on TikTok, dedicating their whole account to leaking the gameplay of the title. You can head over to their profile to indulge the leaked content, but we highly advise proceeding at your own discretion. Even the captions of the videos alone can easily upset the uninitiated.

Here’s a sneak peek of the TikTok profile in question. We’ve blurred out the spoiler bit for you, but the actual stuff is all there, until now, at least. eternalchamp86 also seems to be asking for donations for them to keep pushing out more Resident Evil 4 content. Some people are actually paying them for the subsequent spoilers. Gauging from the view count, comments, and overall traction, the leaker at hand is putting up good business.

Moreover, folks on Reddit have already notified as well that many of the remake’s gameplay sequences are out in the wild, and if that leaked photo of the bundle of Resident Evil 4 copies is anything to go by, more people could be getting their hands on the title soon. Some are of the opinion that GameStop has put up the remake for sale before the title’s actual release, but we can’t confirm or deny this claim at the moment.

In the past, however, Gotham Knights too, among a myriad of other games, has suffered a similar scenario. In other cases, a user posted on Reddit showing their freshly purchased copy of the recently released Dead Space remake from Walmart way before the survival horror thriller was released. It appears as if stores and retailers breaking games’ street dates have become somewhat of a commonplace practice in the industry.

A little over a week ago, though, the Resident Evil 4 remake’s directors revealed the level of changes they made in the revisited version of the classic thriller. The combat system has been legitimately upscaled, with Leon’s melee moves having a lot more punch to them and the overall movement system more streamlined. And the most noteworthy of all, a parry system that even has Leon canceling the attack of Dr. Salvador’s chainsaw.

While you wait for the game to drop, here’s a video that should prepare you on what to expect from the overhauled remake. Thanks to the recently revealed third trailer of the game, Luis Sera was seen aiding Leon and coming in on significantly more cutscenes than his role in the original Resident Evil 4. This game is sure to expand the story of the Spaniard in ways the first one didn’t.

In case you missed it, the Resident Evil 4 devs also announced an airsoft replica of Leon’s gun—the standard 9mm handgun. The attention to detail with the firearm is certainly praiseworthy, given how its left side sports serial numbers commemorating the original and the right section of the handgun boasts the famous Kendo logo.

Resident Evil 4 will release on March 24 for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC.
