Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Was The Most Popular Trailer From The Game Awards

The hype for the Star Wars sequel has outshined every other game at the ceremony.

The Game Awards are not only a means to celebrate the best titles of the year, but they also allow developers to share their plans with fans. Every year we see trailers for some highly anticipated games and surprising reveals about brand-new games in development.

It was no different this year with reveals like those of Armored Core VI, Death Stranding 2, and Hades II. But, the game which probably had the most hype among all the trailers was Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

The sequel to the 2019 game had its reveal trailer premiere at The Game Awards this year. And, since its release on YouTube after the show, it has become the most-watched trailer from the show.

Major Takeaways

  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s trailer had the most views out of all The Game Awards reveals.
  • It beat out exciting surprises like the Armored Core VI and Death Stranding 2 announcements.
  • Final Fantasy XVI didn’t even crack the top 8 with its trailer.

Benji-Sales on Twitter reported the number of views each trailer got on YouTube since The Game Awards. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has won this battle with a landslide as its trailer got over 4.9 million views across all uploads on YouTube. Hence, it was the most-viewed trailer of any game which had its premiere on The Game Awards.

At No.2, Hades II had the 2nd most views for any trailer from the show, amassing over 2.4 million views on YouTube. The sequel to the 2020s Game of the Year contender has a lot of hype around it from fans. It’s really nice to see as roguelike video games don’t get this much exposure in the current era.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon holds the No.3 spot in the views ranking. FromSoftware’s new game took the whole gaming world by storm after its surprising reveal and has a lot of hype around it due to Soulsborne influences. However, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor still beat the night’s big shock pretty easily and that tells us how big the hype surrounding it is.

The new trailer for Warner Bros Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League got the 4th most views. It had over 2.1 million people watch the trailer since its release at The Game Awards. Surprisingly, the other big reveal from the night, Death Stranding 2, got fewer views than Suicide Squad.

At No.5, Death Stranding 2’s reveal trailer had just over 1.9 million views across YouTube uploads. Considering the success and popularity of the first game, you would expect the sequel’s reveal to rank higher. But its numbers again show how impressive Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s trailer performance is.

Cyberpunk 2077’s new DLC, Phantom Liberty, ends up at No.6 as its trailer got over 1.6 million views. Those are impressive numbers for a DLC trailer and continue the game’s resurgence following Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Diablo IV’s trailer has over 1.5 million on YouTube, ahead of a 2023 release.

Tekken 8 closes out this top 8 list with over 1.4 million views across YouTube uploads for its trailer. One notable omission from the list is Final Fantasy XVI and even Benji-Sales was shocked it didn’t make the cut. Such a huge franchise missing out really puts into perspective the hype Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has.
