Star Wars Outlaws Apparently Won’t Release On Steam And Epic Games Store

The upcoming open world game will only be available on Xbox Series S, X, PS5 and Ubisoft Connect

Story Highlights

  • Star Wars Outlaws from Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment will not release on Steam or Epic Games Store.
  • The company has made the effort in recent years to release its games on Steam, although 9th-gen consoles and Ubisoft Connect will take priority.
  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will release on Amazon Luna as well.

Ubisoft again will skip Steam for a new release, as they are with their upcoming game Assasin’s Creed Mirage. Now it seems that Ubisoft will also skip releasing a new title on Epic Games Store, as Star Wars Outlaws will neither come to Steam nor the Epic Game Store. On Ubisoft’s website, the platforms available for the open-world game are listed, and Steam and EGS are not listed.

Star Wars Outlaws will only release on the Xbox Series X and S, Playstation 5, and Ubisoft Connect, Ubisoft’s own game launcher. what is surprising is that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which is also developed by Massive Entertainment will release on Amazon Luna, Amazon’s game streaming service. There is no word as to why Outlaws will not release on Luna as well.

Ubisoft has expressed its disappointment in the past with Steam, saying their 30% cut of games is unfair. The company has made an effort to release its games on Steam, releasing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on the service last year, albeit 2 years after the game was released. Ubisoft would rather prefer to launch its games on its own service where it can take the whole cut.

In the past, Ubisoft had exclusivity deals with Epic Games, snubbing Steam for EGS. In due time, both Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora may make their way to other services, but for PC players the only option to buy and pre-order these games will be to do so through Ubisoft Connect.
