Please Don’t Post Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s Spoilers, Says Ubisoft

Mirage's release fast approaches, but so do spoilers.

Story Highlights

  • Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the latest iteration in the long-running Assassin’s Creed franchise, due for release on October 5, 2023, for a multitude of platforms.
  • Ahead of the game’s imminent release, Ubisoft has issued a public statement, asking fans and followers not to spread spoilers of the game’s story events.
  • It’s commonplace for video game spoilers to spring up a couple of days prior to a prominent game’s release.
  • This often has to do with some retail stores breaking the street date for particular titles, probably popular ones.

The devs really mean it when they’re asking you themselves not to spread spoilers of the game, don’t they? Assassin’s Creed Mirage is Ubisoft’s latest entry to carry the mantle of the iconic Assassin’s Creed franchise, and it’s coming out merely days from now. As per the usual, spoilers for the title are circulating the internet, and potentially ruining the experience for those who want to dive into the game blindly.

Taking this into account, Ubisoft has issued a public statement, asking us keen folks not to spread the bad word and refrain from “posting unmarked spoilers.” If you’re still going to do it, mark them as such at least, so others can stay alert and prevent themselves from reading or seeing anything unwanted. Besides, we’re almost there now—Mirage releases on October 5.

Unfortunately, the gaming industry is no stranger to spoilers, leaks, and everything of the like. In the case of new releases, what typically happens is that some folks happen to get their hands on a game early on. Once done, they play it and share their experience online ahead of time, thereby spoiling the entire thing. Either that or prominent people who get preview copies somehow have their footage leaked

In any case, the end result is certainly unwanted—both for the developers and the average consumer. The devs sure do want us gamers to keep talking about their game, but not in a manner that would ultimately hurt their business. Rockstar can certainly vouch for the matter at hand, considering how it saw one of the biggest leaks of all time in the gaming industry last year.

In case you missed it, 13 minutes of Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s spoiler-filled gameplay leaked online about three weeks ago, and while we won’t get into the details of that, it’s certainly something to watch out for. That, along with the trophy list of the upcoming action-adventure that surfaced online last week. These unlockable trophies can give away a lot about the story of a game. Do proceed with caution.

Being the thirteenth major installment in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage focuses on Basim Ibn Ishaq to take center stage with this iteration, and in doing so, seemingly takes the series back to its roots. Mirage has been shown to feature an extended focus on stealth and relatively slower-paced action instead of emphasizing RPG elements. The title was first announced at Ubisoft Forward 2022

Unlike its predecessors, I believe Mirage has just the perfect completion time, making it possible for players to complete the title in around 20 hours. If you’re a perfectionist though, going for that Platinum trophy game in and game out, expect to invest about 30 hours, and you’ll be bagging that shiny award afterward.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is scheduled to come out on October 5 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. If you’re a Ubisoft+ subscriber, you’ll be able to access the game on the day of its launch at no additional cost.
