The Finals took the world by storm with its free-to-play business model back when it came out about two months ago, amassing more than 200,000 players on Steam alone, and that too concurrently. Developer Embark continues to push the post-launch support for the shooter, and in doing so, it just rolled out another patch v.1.9.0, bringing what appears to be only a handful of new changes.
Although the patch notes aren’t too elaborate this time around, bringing unnamed fixes for bugs and crashes, along with security upgrades and other improvements, the video uploaded by Embark shows that a handful of new aesthetics have made their way into the in-game marketplace. These include a brand-new outfit skin, neon-like weapon aesthetics, and more.
For reference, the previous update of The Finals, v1.8.0, landed on the occasion of Valentine’s Day and brought a new bevy of new unlockable rewards for players across the board, not to mention several adjustments to a ton of gameplay facets, including audio, gameplay, balance, VFX, animation, and more. In this manner, Embark has constantly kept the player base of The Finals in due consideration.

In other news, The Finals has now lost a sizable chunk of its PC player base. It started off with over 200,000 players but is now averaging around 20,000 users on a day-to-day basis. Folks over on Reddit cite multiple reasons for this happening, with some blaming their day jobs for the lack of time, with others blaming the lack of variety in The Finals.
Embark’s latest first-person shooter with an arena-based setting came out on December 7, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. eXputer reviewed the title and rated it 4/5, with reviewer Asad Ahmed highlighting its great gunplay and unique art direction.
