The Finals Dev Releases Ban Wave; Ends Up Banning Non-Cheaters As Well

Players have been reporting a ton of cheaters swarming the game.

Story Highlights

  • The Finals is a brand-new free-to-play shooter released in 2023 employing a live service model.
  • Ever since its release, the game has had a swath of cheaters exploiting the game’s multiplayer.
  • A new ban wave from the side of the developers has targeted innocent players as well.

The Finals, a free-to-play shooter that was released late last year across all major video game platforms, has made waves in the industry for how genuinely fun it is to play. However, the type of waves it’s making now isn’t exactly what players are liking, having banned many users who practically did nothing to deserve it. Reportedly, a new ban outpour was pushed in recent times from the side of the developers, and it sadly ended up doing more harm than good.

Multiple players have taken online to report the unfortunate incident, including popular Twitch streamers, who claim that they played fairly and without the use of any exploit or hacks. Thankfully, an Embark Studios representative reached out and said that some of the unjust bans have been reverted. This means that all of these wrongdoings will be addressed soon, it’s only a matter of time now.

Taking a look at the Patch Notes section of The Finals’ official site, it seems that the last major update for the shooter arrived earlier in December, and since then, there has been no word on a new patch. The reported ban wave has been doled out internally, therefore, but it is likely that the devs will make a fresh post for a new patch soon, detailing what’s about to come next for the FPS.

It’s high time that the developer is taking action for what is otherwise a truly enjoyable FPS with great gameplay mechanics to delve into.
