Story Highlights
- The Witcher 3 modder Glassfish777 has restored the game’s canceled ending by CDPR.
- The alternate ending is related to Yennefer’s betrayal of the Lodge of Sorceresses.
- It’s unknown why CDPR canned this ending. It could have been because of development issues.
As highlighted by YouTuber xLetalis in a new video, the modder Glassfish777 has seemingly restored the game’s canceled ending by CD Projekt Red. The video explores the scrapped ending deeply and recreates all that would’ve happened in this alternate scenario. A big part of the RPG revolves around Geralt recruiting various members of the Lodge of Sorceresses to stop the Wild Hunt and the Second Conjunction of the Spheres.
However, we never really find out what happens to these characters at the end.
After some newly added scenes, the big lore change happens in this ending when Geralt moves onto an interaction between Yennefer, Triss, Geralt, and many other members of the Lodge. This is when Yennefer betrays the Lodge after finding out the location of Ciri and making a deal with Emhyr for their lives. Geralt isn’t too happy with this decision, regardless of what choice you pick.
A Chunk Of The Witcher 3 Content Was Taken Out By CDPR
It’s worth noting that a lot of the RPG’s content was either canned or changed throughout the development process because of many issues. As a result, a huge chunk of the playable story was likely scrapped, which we’ve never seen before. The alternate ending was just a little part of it; fans are expecting modders to find and integrate even more crucial gameplay moments using the REDkit modding tool.
